A crime against the Body of Christ whether in the sacrament of the Eucharist or in the sacrament of Holy Orders has always been a grave offense. And it is such an offense because it profanes a holy thing. Same goes for child abuse. To equate such abuse with the abuse of the sacrament does not belittle the victim. Instead it says the child too is of such importance that to degrade or harm him is along the same lines as profaning the sacred.

The individual in the article can harrumph all they like. No amount of posturing, nor further weaseling will cause the changes they wish. This has already been infallibly covered, and it will never change. If these people wish to excommunicate themselves, I am sorry to hear it, and both hope and pray that they use the time to reflect on what they’ve done wrong, and the steps they need to follow to fix this. No manner of devilment on their parts will accomplish the end they favor. The only end results are that they set themselves apart from Our Lord and the Church, and that, unfortunately, some others might be unduly influenced enough to follow those lost souls onto this terrible path. I really do hope that they see the errors of their ways.

The problem with these folks is that they are actually members, who consider themselves Catholic, of something called the Women's Ordination Conference. Nothing like beating your head against the wall, huh?

If they truly want to ordain women, there is a denomination that allows that, and they'd be perfectly welcome there. They'd better hurry, though, because it's shrinking fast.
