When I went back to college, I had to read Aristotle and Aquinas. I learned all about virtue and vice. Especially this fine tidbit:

Virtue is the mean (middle) and on one side of virtue is the vice. The other side of the virtue is another vice which "appears" to be a virtue.

For example, the virtue of courage has as its vice cowardice. But, the "apparent" virtue (masking itself as a virtue) is a version of boldness, which is intended to make it "appear" that the person is displaying courage when he really isn't. Sort of like the cowardly lion in the Wizard of Oz growling loudly when he was anything but courageous.

Obama has got this "apparent" virtue thing down pat. That is why he has so many people fooled into thinking he is a great, great man.
