The author is having a jab at those who consider Obama to be a Muslim and is instead, putting forward a tongue-in-cheek proposal that he could, in fact, be Catholic. Essentially, he's saying that there's as much (and perhaps more) evidence that Obama is Catholic as there is that he is Muslim.

It's like the old problem of trying to do a parody of The National Inquirer: the real thing is so far out there it's next-to-impossible to out do it to mock it. Anti-Catholic bigots, in turn, have to subscribe to such moronically ridiculous beliefs regarding their view of Catholicism that it's very difficult to discern if they are kidding or not.
