There are more articles about The Vatican mentioning a greater need for exorcists. Few articles mention the influence of santeria and voodoo and how immigrants bring these practices with them. Ask any cop in Miami and he will tell you.

More people dabbling in the occult = more cases of possession.
The general trend of people leaving Churches is having a direct effect on this; these people feel empty, spiritually, and in their search for fulfillment, are pulled in by the mysterious, secret, and dangerous reputation of the occult.
Other people just get 'bored' with regular religion and go looking for a 'spiritual thrill,' and once again get sucked into satanic practices.

He claimed that the sex abuse scandals which have engulfed the Church in the US, Ireland, Germany and other countries, were proof that the anti-Christ was waging a war against the Holy See. He said Pope Benedict XVI believed "wholeheartedly" in the practice of exorcism.
And the sex abuse scandal
of an exorcist is even more proof the devil is working double-time.
