3 more priests turns away from Anglican Communion into Catholic Church {Catholic/Anglican caucus}

The latest priests to turn their backs on the Anglican Communion and join the specially established Catholic Ordinariate are Father David Elliott, of Reading, Berks, Father Jonathan Redvers Harris, of the Isle of Wight and Father Graham Smith, of Christchurch, Dorset.

Earlier this month The Christian Post reported how seven former Church of England clergy were ordained into the Ordinariate, as part of a series of ordinations taking place over Pentecost.

..According to the BBC, one of the three, Father Elliott, resigned from his post as the Anglican vicar of Holy Trinity in Reading in April. He moved to the Catholic Church, taking 15 of his congregants with him.

Elliot has said he felt urged to take the action following Pope Benedict extending a “hand of friendship”.

..The three made the move because they were "distressed" by the developments in the global Anglican Communion which they found to be "incompatible" with Christian tradition.

The Vatican announced in 2009 that it would introduce a new church structure that would allow former Anglicans to enter into "full communion" with the Catholic Church while preserving their Anglican traditions.

Pope Benedict made the provision in response to the numerous requests he received from Anglicans who were unhappy with the ordination of women and noncelibate gay bishops.

When the ECUSA started falling apart, many fled to the Anglican church, but that was in the USA.
I am curious about what is now happening with that church in America.

I can understand it falling apart in the UK, as they sink
into the muck.

I was a senior warden in the ECUSA (west Tennessee), but left when radical gays and leftist started taking over.
Most of the Anglican churches in the south were over on the east coast, so I became a man without a church.

I began my foreign travels in 1999, and left for good in 2004.
All of my church going is now Roman Catholic.

Years ago, the new rector of my Episcopal church (that I walked away from at age 14) decided to become Catholic. Of course, this was after he had taken a burgeoning church where there were often not enough seats for the worshipers and turned it into a basket case by driving away over half the parishioners.

Anyone who worships Mary or any of the other "saints" by imputing the characteristics of Jesus to them (if they can hear your prayers they must be omniscient) is calling Christ a liar and the Scriptures false.

False twice over.

First, it's a false generalization, effectively saying "if they know one thing (or ten things), that means they must know everything". That doesn't follow, obviously.

Second, it's false because they are in the presence of God and share in his intellect and knowledge. They can obviously know what he wishes them to know.

Dear Dr. Thorne,

This is an Anglican/Catholic caucus -- as you walked away from the anglican church, you really are not in this caucus, correct?

Secondly, no one worships Mary or any saint

Thirdly, saints in heaven are granted eternal life in Christ -- all they have, are, be etc is due to Christ alone. In Christ's body that is the Church, the saints are not omniscient -- they hear our pleas through God who IS omniscient.

Thank you for dropping by our caucus -- "Caucus threads are closed to any poster who is not a member of the caucus."

The “you Catholics worship saints, Mary, etc” is getting sooooooooooooooooo old. There are enough resources out there that state what the Church really teaches. People need to educate themselves and get their info from the correct source instead of listening to Joe Blow from next door who doesn’t know what the heck he’s talkking about.

Sorry.... needed to vent!

Too true. On the other hand, for the priests mentioned: Deo Gratias, and welcome home.
