Interesting. I always thought the switch from TLM was a really bad idea. TLM united all Catholics and had such tradition which connected all the geniuses of the Church throughout the years to the present. Such rich tradition and Latin is almost as beautiful as Italian. Children’s minds were expanded when hearing another language (even a dead one) and repetition meant they would eventually know it. Even a lot of English words esp. in the sciences and music have Latin origins.

I always thought it was an infiltration by the devil who whispered into Vatican’s ear to “change” such a fundamental traditional rich element to “modernize”—dumb down actually— and get with the shallow “pop” culture. Bad idea.

It divided all the different Catholic cultures more—gives them less in common. Now we have “Spanish Mass” and English Mass and not Chinese Mass or German Mass—a real slight to some and a divisive tool in communities. Very Marxist.

It also alienated the old from the young (because it split off from the past tradition) and the young (esp. in the 70’s and later) dropped out in droves because the Church seemed so casual and untraditional and New Age—which is so empty and devoid of historical depth and that direct connection to Jesus—who lived in Roman times. Latin was heavy with meaning, tradition and connectivity.

They should immediately change all Catholic services to Latin. I would if I were Pope. LOL :) (I am a little on the radical side and very opinionated and not extremely tolerant of Postmodernist ideas —like banish the past. It is important to remember the past and all the great ideas esp. to give meaning to future generations).

Prayers up...God knows how to bring much good out of bad and I expect there will be a cascade of goodness from the sufferings of this good priest.
