My elderly neighbor, one of Jehovah's Witnesses, without transfusion, had both hips replaced last year and has fared quite well.

Whoever this “Margo” is, in this letter to the editor, he/she seems singularly ignorant of the subject.

Perhaps that was one case, however, you must admit that blood transfusions are necessary in many cases — especially if you have lost or could lose blood?

Also, as NorthStar points out, the Jehovah'sWitness philosophy on this is wrong and they cause a lot of issues.

CYC -- how can anyone justify the JehowahWitness philosophy that blood transfusions is wrong? That is biblically unsound.
