What you must do is, confess your sins,to God, and ask forgivness in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

“What you must do is, confess your sins,to God, and ask forgivness in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.”

______________________________________

Private confession of one’s sins to God is extremely important in order for the Christian to maintain fellowship with God.

I John 1:9 (”If we confess our sins...”) is addressed to those who are already Christians.

Confession of sin is not, however, the criterion for receiving the free gift of eternal salvation.

The Biblical criterion for receiving the free gift of eternal salvation is faith alone in Christ alone.

The following verses tell us how to be saved. Confession of sin isn’t mentioned:

John 3:16-18
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever BELIEVES in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He who BELIEVES on him is not condemned: but he who does not BELIEVE is condemned already, because he has not BELIEVED in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

John 6:47
(Jesus Christ said) He who BELIEVES in me has everlasting life.

Acts 16:31
BELIEVE in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved

Acts 10:43
Every one who BELIEVES in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.

John 11:25-26
(Jesus Christ said) I am the resurrection and the life. He who BELIEVES in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and BELIEVES in me will never die. Do you BELIEVE this?

You are so wrong it pains me. What some of you don't understand is that sin has nothing to do with it. Christ died for the sins of the world. That my friend is every sin you ever did and every sin you are going to do. Your sin was nailed up on that cross but that is not good enough for you, you want to ask God to forgive you again. That is saying to God, what your Son did in just not enough for me, I want to keep on asking you to forgive me (that is a work, by the way) we are not saved by works but by faith. Evidently you need more faith. It's almost as if you are being insulting to God by not accepting what his Son did for you. Catholics will have a problem with what I say here but then they have Rome, we only have the Lord. When the day comes, you will not be asked anything about sin but "what did you do about my Sons sacrifice for you".
