ANNA

This woman was a prophetess who spent all her time, day and night, in the Temple. She was present when Jesus was brought to the Temple by his parents in accordance with the Law of Moses. She "began to praise God" on seeing him, "and she spoke of the child to all who looked forward to the deli-verance of Jerusalem" (Luke 2:36-38).

Holy Prophetess Anna is not to be confused with Saint Anna, the mother of the Virgin.
