Cardinal Dolan at the Values Voter Summit? (Nat. Cath. fishwrap issues him a warning)
NC Reporter ^ | August 22, 2012 | Sr. Maureen Fiedler

Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York has apparently been invited as a major speaker at the Values Voter Summit, Sept. 14-16 in Washington, D.C. So says the summit's website.

If he accepts the invitation, he would share the stage with such right-wing luminaries as Michele Bachman (R-Minn.), who thinks Islamic radicals are lurking everywhere; Gov. Jan Brewer of Arizona, who signed the anti-immigrant "papers, please" law in her state; and none other than Republican vice-presidential pick Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, author of a budget that would end Medicare as we know it and cut funds for the needy to make it possible for the top 1 percent to get tax cuts.

An appearance at this summit is tantamount to an endorsement of Republican candidates. In fact, it's an endorsement of some of the most right-wing members of that party. Indeed, because of the confirmed appearance of Paul Ryan at the summit, observers might be led to think Dolan endorses the Romney-Ryan ticket.

And lest anyone think this is just a meeting to condemn abortion and same-sex marriage (on which Dolan has already pronounced himself), the website makes clear that this group also endorses "limited government, reduced spending and protecting America." Translation: Cut programs for the poor, eliminate life-saving regulations and increase the defense budget. Dolan has pronounced himself on the sexuality issues, but these other positions are at odds with the Catholic bishops' condemnation of the Ryan budget as "immoral."

Dolan should reject the invitation ... and say why.

Archbishop Dolan should not decline the invitation; Values Voters should rescind it.

Sr. Maureen Fiedler is probably a bitter old Marxist lesbian who wishes she could be a priest, and has completely forgotten about “Thou shalt not steal” and “Thou shalt not covet”.

Ann Barnhardt regularly eviscerates Archbishop Dolan.

Dolan should be proud to have such critics:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maureen_Fiedler
“”Fiedler finished a doctoral dissertation in 1976 titled “Sex and Political Participation in the United States: A Comparative Analysis of Masses and Elites”. It was published by Georgetown University in 1977.[2]

In the 1980s, Fiedler was active in Central America and Haiti working for women’s rights and for political justice.[3]

In 1984 Fiedler was one of 97 theologians and religious persons who signed A Catholic Statement on Pluralism and Abortion, calling for religious pluralism and discussion within the Church regarding its position on abortion.[4] The Vatican later reported that she had disavowed the statement, but she responded, “I have never retracted or recanted one syllable... I continue to stand behind every word of it without the slightest reservation.”[5]””

DNC talking points?!

Possibly ... definitely the opinion of left wing radical Sister Fiedler. Remember, this article was published on a leftist, catholic, news site.

You can easily see from the example of “Sister” Fiedler how desperately the RCC needs to restore the Inquisition and, after due and extensive inquiry, submit her and others like her to a proper and formal auto da fe and the firm and final discipline of burning her and them at the stake. As she is reduced to unholy ashes, she will probably hallucinate that she has something in common with St. Joan of Arc but being female and being burned at the stake do not make an equivalency.

"There is a very serious untruth being repeated that the “Ryan Budget” has been condemned as immoral, etc. by the Catholic Bishops aka the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), or even the Catholic Church itself. It was not."

This statement is WRONG! The "Catholic Bishops" have NOT condemned the Ryan budget as immoral. There are several issues that the Catholic Church has declared non-negotiable, but the economy and budget issues are not included. Catholics of good will can disagree on the best way to assist poor people.

There are SOME Bishops, the reliable liberal ones, who have said that Ryan is not in line with Church teaching about the poor, but Ryan's own Bishop has stated that Ryan's ideas comport with those of the Church regarding subsidiarity.

Dear Lord Jesus, Please grant protection, wisdom and courage to Cardinal Dolan. Please guard his steps on the path of holiness. Please give him a faithful staff, people who are submissive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. And Lord, Please raise up an army of intercessors to surround him with prayer at all times. Thank you, Lord, for you are so Good. Amen.
