Our vaunted “war on terror” is a self-deception. There is no war on terror. There is an Islamic war on us. We have yet to acknowledge it and have yet to put up more than a disjointed, muddled response.
What little we have done that is effective has been undone by our unwillingness to face who our enemy is, and what they are about.
Its one thing to choose your words and response carefully, so that you do not completely unite your enemy, and so that you can take advantage of divisions within your enemy’s camp. Its another to willfully blind yourself to what it is you face.
Our enemy is as much spiritual as it is military. Our war has to be fought on both fronts, we require moral and intellectual clarity above all or it is lost before it is begun.
