It most certainly is, it just isn't organized systematically. All my systematic theology comes straight from the bible. And Protestants don't give commentaries and catechisms the weight of scripture - they are merely teaching aids. Thus, they don't and aren't intended to "augment" scripture, merely explain it to the uninitiated.
"You cannot separate the church's authentication of the canon of Scripture from its Catholic practices and teachings."
Even if the "church" had "authenticated" the canon of scripture (it didn't, the Holy Spirit did) the two things you mention can easily be separated.
A = not A?
All my systematic theology comes straight from the bible.
No, your theology come from a Protestant understanding of the Bible. Do we really have to list all the scriptural passages where Catholics and Protestants disagree with their meaning? Catholics hold the Bible in no less reverence than Protestants. We sincerely believe that our understanding of it is correct and leads to Catholic teachings. If you were to study Catholic theology you would find that it is constantly referencing the Bible.
I would also find it referencing precepts that are not in the bible and that it just made up to enhance and consolidate its power and control. The entire Catholic church (or any church for that matter) has no more presence, authority or power before God than the lowliest saved Christian.
Could you please answer the following question(s) using only the Bible, and cite chapter and verse. We are getting close to being able to clone human beings.
When that happens will the clone have a soul? If it does have a soul will it be the same soul as the original person, or a different one?
If it is the same soul as the original and one of them (clone or original dies) what happens to that soul?
If it is a different one where did that soul come from?
Uh, troll.
Really? Show me one and then I'll answer your questions.
Witty response there newbie.
I fully expected this answer, so let me reword it for you. All animals have souls. Was Dolly the sheep soul the same as the original. Etc....
How did you come to that conclusion?
By reading the Bible. Start with Genesis 1:1
Just so everyone is clear this is your way of saying that you can’t get ALL of systematic theology form the Bible alone, is that correct?
please point out to me where Gen 1.1 says anthing about animals having or not having souls. Then define for me what you mean by "souls" and how that differs from "Spirit." In any event, Gen 1.26 makes it clear that man has something that sets them apart from animals. Whether you call that a "soul", "spirit" or whatever, it is something that cloned sheep don't have.
See reply 51.
It doesn’t speak to the issue at all.
You betcha.
