Despite a recent strongly worded clarification from Rome, confusion is continuing to be stirred up over the Catholic Churchs practice of refusing Communion to those who are divorced and remarried. A prominent curial cardinal, and favorite of Pope Francis, has defied the Vaticans doctrinal office, saying that he expects a change.
Cardinal Walter Kasper has said bluntly, and in direct opposition to the head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF), that the rules will shortly be changed to allow divorced and remarried Catholics to be admitted to Holy Communion.

There is confusion and turmoil everywhere in the Church these days it seems.
When the Church is willing to give Communion to Pelosi, why not.
This will not happen as it sounds. Take that to the bank. What will happen is that those who have remarried and are now past the age of sexual activity (whatever that might be for a particular person) will be deemed to be living a plutonic life with an opposite gender roommate. No sex - no “sin” = okay to receive Holy Communion.
Kasper is too old to vote in the next conclave. He is retired. He doesn’t really have any standing on any of this.
I’m doubting the validity of this report.
The “Internal Forum” is RECOGNIZED by Cannon Law as a way to resolve issues which are not practical or possible to resolve through normal Tribunal or Church processes.
Those of you who doubt me on this will answer to God yourselves for a Commandment violation:
BEARING FALSE WITNESS! BTW, though I have my disagreements with Pope Francis on economic matters, where he is an idiot, I am very happy that Pope Francis has repeatedly snubbed the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
Feh, Cardinals come, Cardinals go, but Catholic morality remains eternal.
If you are a Kennedy or Kerry, you can buy an annulment.
And even have a Cardinal have your funeral Mass.
plutonic? watz that?

Amen. I am a lapsed Catholic and sometimes I feel that the Church just doesn't take the euchrist as seriously as I do. I had always thought that one was supposed to be in a "state of grace" before receiving the host. This woman not only votes to promote abortion laws; but, she activiely advocates for it. So, I supppose her Bishop may have spoken to her in private; but, she is a public figure showing everyone that the Church is not serious about its stand on abortion. Some priest needs to grow a set, and simply refuse to give her the euchrist. Be quiet about it, just simply say no. Let her make the stink. I doubt she would. But, if you are not willing to enforce your rules; there are no rules.
Yeah right.
If the policy changes with regards to divorced and remarried you will see dozens of apologists right here on this forum telling us that the old way was never a "set in stone" teaching in the first place.
They have been going through all sorts of mental gymnastics with this Pope and are well exercised in rationalization.
So as long as the equipment is “dried up” you’re “good to go” with the Catholic Church???
I did not know that a vow to GOD has so many loopholes. Can’t they just get an annulment?
If this is true, then you can take it to bank it will get watered down. Some doors should not be opened.
And some people wonder why there are those who leave the church.
V2 will be the bane of us all.
I hope he is right. I was divorced when I became a Catholic 27 years ago and it was fine for me to take oommunion but now that I have remarried I can’t? Its pretty screwed up.
Yes. What if your spouse walked out on you? That’s it?
Thats true.
It already is.
