Jesus Would Not Support Modern Day Socialism

It has been the aim of the Democrat party since they lost the Presidential election in 2004 to subvert the Christian doctrine with the claim that Jesus was a Socialist. Their goal is to convince Christians that their Social agenda is morally equivalent with the teachings and life of Jesus Christ. They even went so far as to create handbooks to be distributing to pastors of churches that will show them how to use various Bible verses to promote what they call "Christian Socialism." Taking this into consideration, it shouldn't surprise anyone that many Christians across America were fooled into voting for Obama in 2008.

Add that to the vast amount of Americans who have a limited knowledge of history and hardly no Biblical knowledge, it is not surprising that many have fallen for the misinformation on what Jesus taught (and for whom the teachings were given). These Biblical revisionists have become especially adept at cherry picking Scripture to suit their agenda. Hence, many have come to misunderstand the gospel of Christ by equating it with modern day Socialism.

My first point of contention with the idea that Christ was a socialist, is His teachings and the example of His life. Throughout the time that Christ lived with His disciples, He never worked. Instead he was dependent upon the charity and good hearts of those who surrounded Him. Now that is not to say Jesus was lazy or a bum either. Jesus was always about His Fathers business, and that business was the salvation of mankind. You will find nowhere in the Scriptures, Jesus telling His followers to rely upon those who are not willing to hear the gospel or share what they have. If the people refused to hear

Another point to buttress the argument that Jesus did not set up a system based on Socialism is when John and Peter met the beggar at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful.

In Acts 3:6 we learn that Peter told the beggar, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk."

Obviously Peter did not take money from others, nor did he demand that Herod take care of the man and his medical needs, No, he gave the man what all men truly need. Healing through Christ Jesus.

Socialism is slavery to the State.

Stalinists lie. Always.

If Jesus believes in self sacrifice for the good of others, how could he oppose Socialism when those are the principles that justify socialism?

Ain’t that the truth.

Most leftists who claim to be christian want to change what Jesus taught. Some go so far as to toss out all of the books written by Paul, because they claim he hijacked Christianity by forcing his Mosaic laws onto Christians. So they are sure that the Christianity us Christians practice is not what Jesus taught.

They have one HUGE problem. Jesus is God, ans he is the the same yesterday, today, and forever. Unless they change, they will have a vey bad day on Judgment day.

Wrongo! Socialists demand that YOU sacrifice for the poor, needy, and the lazy, but those in charge of it never sacrifice what they have.

Jesus sacrificed Himself for all, not just the lazy and poor, but for the rich and the selfish also. All they need to do is believe in Him.

Jesus had problems with wealth. Camels passing through a needles eye and so on.

Let’s concentrate on what the Founding Fathers would have felt about the horrendous state of affairs of the Keynesian Regime (Keynesian moving toward Stalinist ). They are doing 360s in their graves.

Remember what Jesus said when He healed people... Go and sin no more. He expected the people to be self motivated to correct action after He helped them.

There is a pretty clear distinction between personal sacrifice to help another man that is given freely and out of compassion, and the imposed government socialism that steals from one man in order to coerce loyalty from another man to that government.

Self-sacrifice for the good of others should be on an individual level and not coerced by the government.

No, He had a problem with those who worshiped their possessions. However, He tells us it is more difficult for a rich man because his wealth becomes a stumbling block. Just as drugs, sex, or work does with people.

Where your treasure is, so to is your heart is what he said. So, where is your treasure?

Judas was the first socialist:
Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus' feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, "Why wasn't this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year's wages."

He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it.

"Leave her alone," Jesus replied. "It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial. You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me."

John 12:3-8

So fine, no one is arguing with that. Leave Jesus for worship and use the founding fathers for understanding the constitution.

No. Jesus had a problem with anything that you held on to tighter then you held on to Him.

Money was only one of those things.

And money did not necessarily equal wealth.

Wrong. If He were, He would not have gone to Herod and demanded he tax the rich to help the poor.

OK so you’re saying the big difference is that under Socialism the leaders demand that everyone else sacrifice their lives on pain of death or punishment but they are exempt so it is hypocritical. That is the important difference?

There’s self-sacrifice & then there’s enforced sacrifice...there’s the difference.
