Monsignor Pope Ping!
O God, who walkest upon the wings of the wind, and thou alone workest wonders! By the power inherent in this metal, thou dost bring hither distant things quicker than lightning, and transferest present things to distant places. Therefore grant that, instructed by new inventions, we may merit, by thy bounteous grace, to come with greater certainty and facility to thee. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. |
Metal => device
I once had a book on Irish blessings. It was really sweet. Prayers to say as you passed a Church, a cemetery, prayers for dead enemies, etc. In a fit of magnanimity I gave it to a friend who was Irish. I shoulda copied it before I gave it to her.
Well, the Internet is not simply computers, but connected computers. The processor is made of silicon which is a metalloid. The conductors inside the computer are metal, and so usually is the frame. The same applies to network equipment, which is the same technology as the computer on your desk. The cables is what makes the physical component of specifically the Internet. Those are fiber optics or copper. Fiber optics is the only thing that is not metal. For a prayer not intended as an engineering manual, "metal" is fine.
Metal in reference to Silicon, perhaps?
Notwithstanding, that prayer is POETRY. I intend to use it!
Thank God for Monsignor Pope, and for you for posting these articles.
I really wish I could get an hour with him.
use the word “device.”
