Cardinal Wuerl attacks "brother bishops" as "dissenters"
Rorate Caeli ^ | 2/18/15 | Kenneth J. Wolfe

Posted on 02/18/2015 3:13:58 PM PST by BlatherNaut

It is an open secret in Washington, D.C., that Donald Cardinal Wuerl has effectively banned Raymond Cardinal Burke from entering the Archdiocese of Washington. Several sources have confirmed this to Rorate over the years, stemming from Wuerl's disdain for any priest or bishop who opposes giving Communion to Catholics who publicly dissent from Church teachings.

Since Summorum Pontificum was issued by Benedict XVI in 2007, Cardinal Wuerl has instituted numerous obstacles to priests who wish to offer the traditional Latin Mass and sacraments using the 1962 books. Traditional confirmations have been denied, even requests from priests offering to administer the sacrament themselves. A letter from a one's bishop or superior detailing the liturgical skill set of a priest wishing to offer Low Mass in the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is required for any celebrant there. Traditional Latin Masses offered at parishes not designated by the Archdiocese as TLM-approved sites are prohibited from being publicized. (Washington, D.C. is full of private Low and even High Masses not listed on church websites or bulletins.) And, of course, the second annual Mass on the anniversary of the installation of Benedict XVI was canceled at the last minute, despite months of planning and preparations made.

Donald Wuerl was the most powerful American dissenter to the restorations led by Pope Benedict.

With a more like-minded Holy Father now in power, suddenly Cardinal Wuerl has become a papal Marine, most recently with a blog post blasting "brother bishops who are less than enthusiastic about Pope Francis" as "dissenters":

As I was watching the Holy Father on TV, my inbox was filling with a number of email including an interview and an article by brother bishops who are less than enthusiastic about Pope Francis. Those emails reminded me of a much, much earlier time in my life when I first experienced dissent from the teaching and practice of a pope.

Who could Cardinal Wuerl be writing about? We have a guess. Andrea Tornielli has the same guess.

One thing is for sure: this pontificate of nearly two years and counting has separated the Wuerls from the men. During the season of Lent that begins today, Rorate readers are encouraged to pray even more than usual for faithful men like Raymond Cardinal Burke. May they have the strength to persevere.

Like most faithful Catholics I know little or nothing about the political infighting among the hierarchy.

Priests take a vow of obedience. I would never ask them to talk about their superiors.

Like most Catholics the only contact I have had with someone Bishop level or higher is listening to them on tape asking for money.

Wuerl practically destroyed Catholicism in the Pittsburgh diocese. He used a Sherman-like torched earth policy and closed down Catholic schools and churches by the hundreds. I have friends that moved away from Pittsburgh because they had no decent church to attend.

At his ordination to the diaconate and presbyterate, a priest promises “respect and obedience” to his bishop and his successors. He does not make this promise to OTHER bishops.

The fact that the loathsome, tyrannical, homosexual Wuerl has prospered, while the kind, scholarly, orthodox Burke has been busted tells me that Bergoglio is loathsome, tyrannical, and homosexual.

Out of curiosity, where is it reported, with some evidence, that Cardinal Wuerl is homosexual?

It is a very serious charge, and would like to examine the source.

Our Lady’s words to Sister Agnes Sasagawa, Akita, Japan apparition 1973:

The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, and bishops against other bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their Confreres. The Church and altars will be vandalized. The Church will be full of those who accept compromises and the demon will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord.

Vision of Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich 1821:

June 1, 1821: “Among the strangest things that I saw, were long processions of bishops. Their thoughts and utterances were made known to me through images issuing from their mouths. Their faults towards religion were shown by external deformities. A few had only a body, with a dark cloud of fog instead of a head. Others had only a head, their bodies and hearts were like thick vapors. Some were lame; others were paralytics; others were asleep or staggering.”

“I saw what I believe to be nearly all the bishops of the world, but only a small number were perfectly sound. I also saw the Holy Father— God-fearing and prayerful. Nothing left to be desired in his appearance, but he was weakened by old age and by much suffering. His head was lolling from side to side, and it dropped onto his chest as if he were falling asleep. He often fainted and seemed to be dying. But when he was praying, he was often comforted by apparitions from Heaven. Then, his head was erect, but as soon as it dropped again onto his chest, I saw a number of people looking quickly right and left, that is, in the direction of the world.”

By “evidence, do you mean videotape of sex acts?

In that case, there’s no evidence. That I know of.

But the “charge” is universal knowledge. It was universally known long before the internet. You can Google “a twirl with Wuerl” and “Donna Wuerl.”

yup & this one: “fresh roses in rooms and mints on the pillow”............quoted from an online source of his needs being met while traveling.....

I heard him onetime on a call in radio show where he was being interviewed some time ago & it was fascinating to listen to him -—somehow the his radio impression never left me and that very day I googled him (this was about 2 yrs ago). that’s how I found out about him.

The radio host was being more than generous with their verbal kneebending and groveling during the interview (this is a conservative radio show) and later that week I called the station and asked them what was up with interviewing him , they should be ashamed of themselves.
They hurriedly apologized and said to me “they hadn’t done their vetting properly”, or some such other thing.
It was nice they apologized. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one to call in either.

Don has been known to go as “Donna” lol, too...

So, I did google twirl with Wuerl. My only question with that would be, why would any self-respecting man have a twirl then tell about it? It would seem to me a complaint would be made to higher HQ, etc.

I don’t expect videos, etc. Rather, any number of “universally known” things are often false, e.g., Herbert Hoover as cross-dresser, Joe McCarthy was on a witch hunt, etc.

Because it is a charge that can be disputed, the tie goes to the Cardinal (on this point).

Thank you for the article. Sadly, I had to pick through a bunch of junk, and I mean junk, to find a salient fact. The Dignity stuff.

It is a travesty it was ever allowed. In the diocese of my childhood, my father complained to the Papal Nuncio about Dignity, as the bishop was a big supporter.

That said, he might be a homosexual sympathizer, but doesn’t make him an homosexual. Maybe that is a distinction without a difference.

Don Wuerl is well known in the gay community and it’s not just for his sympathetic role as a priest
