New Testament Bible repentance is actually “metanoya” (a changed mind) over DEAD WORKS (Heb 6:1). The New Testament teaches that we are saved by grace not works and we are righteous as God’s gift (Romans 5:17) not by our works.
Repentance from dead works means we accept the full and complete forgiveness for all of our sins by the perfect single sacrifice of Jesus Christ who bore the full condemnation and punishment of our sins on the cross. We take his word that IT IS FINISHED - he has done it all. Repentance from dead works means we have changed our minds and stop our self-efforts to be saved or to be righteous.

Thank you. Many think they need to keep doing things to be redeemed. Paul lamented about doing the evil he would not do and not doing the good that he would do - in other words, he realized his continuing sinful nature, despite being saved, and was "poor in spirit" because of the realization that he could never be worthy on his own.
Blessed are the poor in spirit...
