This time the Syrian Christians were given four choices: convert to Islam, submit to Islam and pay the tax, leave the area, or die. They said they would not convert, but they would pay the tax, and they had not fought against the Islamists, so they were not killed. This is “moderate” Islam. Others have been given only two choices: convert or die.
