I think it is a way of comforting themselves after the loss of a loved one.

Of course it is.

To allow your mind to envision your mom, dad, whoever suffering in hell would be so terrible that you could not function in life.

So the question is this: Are you a Christian? If so do you really believe what Scripture teaches about final judgment?

I've had discussions with some on these threads who claim to be Christian yet deny the eternal suffering in hell.
