After being released from the hospital following a life-threatening heart complication, Princeton professor and religious freedom advocate Robert P. George took to Facebook Sunday night thank all those who prayed for him throughout his ordeal, as he now expects to have a swift recovery.
George, who is the chair of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom and also a conservative author, was hospitalized in New Jersey last Sunday after feeling pain in his abdomen. He was later diagnosed with a rare life-threatening tear on the inner layer of his aorta and was transferred to Weill Cornell Medical Center in Manhattan.
Although it was originally believed that surgery was needed, it was later determined that surgery was no longer necessary.
"Throughout the ordeal that began last Sunday evening, my family and I have been buoyed by your kind and generous words, your steadfast moral support, and above all your fervent prayers," George wrote on his Facebook page. "Even at the darkest moment, I took enormous comfort in knowing that heaven was being stormed on my behalf not only by those closest to me personally, but by countless men and women of almost every tradition of faith, including many I have not personally even met."

Great news.
Because few of us are personally acquainted with him, we take him for granted until God almost takes him home. Every rosary that I say from here on out will include Professor George as one for whom I pray.
One year ago, I was expected to die each and every day for 17 days in coma from sudden and catastrophic kidney failure. A fellow FReeper who holds my medical power of attorney kept this website informed daily of my condition. Members of this forum responded with hundreds of prayers expressed on several threads for my recovery. But for the power of prayer from so very many FReepers of many faiths, I would not be here to communicate.
God bless JimRob and this magnificent gift of FR that he has given to us all. Pray for Professor George and for JimRob and for this website and for all of us here at this holy time of the year. I am poor in my old age and bad health but I ask that those better off than I am consider a generous Christmas gift to FR to help JimRob not to have to beg non-stop for contributions to maintain the independence of this site.
Thank you very much. God bless.
Thanks iowamark for posting this.
George’s book, the Clash of Orthodoxies, is a great book that I enjoyed.
