The Pontificate of Pius XII
Fr. Hunwicke's Mutual Enrichment ^ | Fr. John Hunwicke

The endless and vulgar showcasing of Papa Bergoglio demonstrates how inherently dangerous this cult of personality really is. Turning the Servus servorum Dei into a cosmopolitan celeb obscures, rather than expresses, his true place in the Church Militant. Even Pio Nono did not consider that his Primacy (which he was indeed so anxious to get defined) required him to gad around the world showing it off like a girl with an engagement ring.

JPII started traveling the world because the bishops were destroying the Church, and he wanted to go over their heads directly to the people.

Then, back in Rome, he appointed Wuerl, Dolan, O’Malley, Robert “Adonis” Lynch, Law, Mahony, Quinn, Niederauer, etc., etc., etc. And never removed Weakland. Not to mention Marxists all over Central and South America, and Australia, the Philippines, etc., etc., etc.

Very good comments, as usual from Mr. McGowan.

My view is that JP II was defending the City of God and focused on defeating Soviet communism and succeeded. Sadly, his inferiors in Rome were focused on the City of Man and defended their country club lifestyles. Thus, when JP II was not looking, Mahony et al were promoted. Now we are stuck with an ugly barn called a “cathedral” in Los Angeles. I don’t blame JP II. I blame Cardinal Bugnini (1912-1982) for pushing the new mass.

The appointment of each and every bishop in the world requires the signature of the Pope.

JPII didn’t even bother to read the dossiers. He made no effort to get control of the process. He could have created a communications network of good Catholics around the world to generate a BLACKLIST—terrible priests and bishops who should never, never, never be appointed bishop.

Bergoglio is actively seeking out terrible, terrible priests to appoint as bishops. He is ignoring the nominees of his nuncios around the world.

He is appointing notorious homosexual priests as bishops, and promoting notorious homosexual bishops and Cardinals to higher posts in the Vatican.

He knows EXACTLY what he is doing to the Church.

Gotcha. Very sad how Bergoglio is harmful and not useful.

George Weigel shares your conern. Weigel was surprised and sad when no person from the Vatican in Rome visited Boston before giving Boston a new Cardinal. He said it makes common business sense to visit Boston and talk to the locals before replacing Cardinal Law.

JP II should have listed to the critiques of Roger Mahony. I have a family friend who went to high school with Mahony and he has plenty to tell the Pope about the goofball still wearing red in Los Angeles.

Remember when the transcripts of Mahony’s depositions came out, along with other damning documents. Gomez ordered Mahony to cease EVEN DOING CONFIRMATIONS. Mahony attacked Gomez in his newspaper column. Gomez folded, and hasn’t been heard from since, except extolling the glories of No Borders.

JPII deposed, I think, two bishops. BXVI was deposing about one a month!

Two-thirds of thr American bishops should have been forced to retire in 2001.
