US Catholic voters lean toward Clinton, survey shows

American Catholic voters lean strongly toward Hillary Clinton in this year's presidential contest, according to a new Pew Forum survey.

The Pew poll found that Clinton held a 56-39% advantage over Donald Trump among Catholic voters. That 17% margin was markedly different from the results of a similar poll in the last presidential race, when then-Senator Barack Obama was virtually even with Mitt Romney among Catholic voters in June 2012.

However, Clinton's margin among Catholic voters was entirely attributable to a huge (77-16%) advantage among Hispanic Catholics. Among white Catholics, Trump had a slight (50-46) edge.

Among all voters surveyed, Pew found that Clinton had a 51-42% lead. Trump enjoyed his best results among white Evangelical voters, who gave him a massive 78-17% advantage; Clinton did best with black Protestants, who broke even more dramatically (89-8%) in her favor.

Among voters who attend church services weekly, Pew found that Trump had a slight advantage: 49- 45%. But among Catholics who attend Mass weekly, Clinton led by 57-38%.

When asked which questions they considered most important in the presidential campaign, Catholics provided answers that did not differ significantly from the overall national sample.

You can not speak generally about Catholics like that.

It would be like saying all Baptists vote Democrat.

And I know that’s not true.

I’m referring to the Catholics that are Hillary voters. What’s wrong with you?

Nothing is wrong with me, I won’t vote for Hillary.

Where is your Christian attitude?

I don’t know what you mean by a Christian attitude.

You put words in my mouth and, after correcting you, I asked what is wrong with you.

It seems you see that question as inappropriate as a Christian. You are offended maybe? I didn’t see it that way, but if you were offended then I apologize.

I know you are a man/woman who loves God and is dedicated to our Lord Jesus Christ, as am I. The discourse can get a little heated or unruly from time to time, even among believers!

They did in 84......but most everybody did in 84. Otherwise Catholics have traditionally supported the liberal dimocrat presidential nominee.

Maybe Catholics won’t support the party of death this year as they previously have been doing.

If these poll numbers are real here’s probably the key line: However, Clinton’s margin among Catholic voters was entirely attributable to a huge (77-16%) advantage among Hispanic Catholics. Among white Catholics, Trump had a slight (50-46) edge. I’ve posted on a hispanic sponsored catholic site about francis’ trump comments and the site repeatedly deleted my and other users posts that supported strong borders.

Although I was raised a Catholic, I left as soon as I realized that faith was, well, a leap of faith.

Does anyone have any insight as to how American Catholics reconcile Hillary with their religious faith?

I get the impression when American Catholics are polled it is including people who don't really ever show up to Church. I have a family member who does not go to Church but is Catholic and so would be included as a Catholic in large numbers of surveys.

I have several friends who routinely ask "How can one vote for Trump in light of Catholic Social Doctrine?" When asked what parts of Catholic Social Doctrine present a problem with voting for Trump, it comes down to 2: racism and immigration.

I have watched people make more money off throwing around false accusations of racism than Clinton made off selling national security down the river. As for the latter, the Catholic Church typically presents immigration as "We must let immigrants in otherwise we are not being kind to our neighbor." They frequently ignore the large quantities of people here who are suffering without jobs and could claim to be competing (and losing) for jobs with immigrants.

Did you not read the article?

But among Catholics who attend Mass weekly, Clinton led by 57-38%.

Any man who calls an abortionist a “national heroine” is pro-abortion.

We have a pro-abortion Pope. He deliberately chooses bishops who insist that Communion should be given to pro-abortion politicians. He deliberately punishes bishops who are outspokenly pro-life.

We have a pro-sodomy Pope. Too many instances of snuggling with sodomites to count.

Worst Pope EVER. At least the few Popes who were murderers, fornicators, and sodomites didn’t publicly praise sodomites, murderers, and fornicators.

JPII appointed virtually all of the Cardinals who elected Bergoglio, and he continues to appoint bishops and Cardinals just like those who put him in office.

JPII totally neglected his duty regarding the appointment of bishops. He made negligible efforts to identify holy, faithful men.
