They are pets.
How long before they start demanding they be baptized and given communion?
What happens to their spirit after death is up to God but saying a dog is a Christian does not elevate the dog, it degrades the concept of Christian.

I keep trying to make good Christians out of my two cats; but they’re recalcitrant. They keep fighting with each other, and doing bad stuff like jumping up on the kitchen stove.
I retain hope, though. Both the Catholics and the Episcopalians ‘bless the animals’, in memory of St. Francis of Assisi - my favorite Saint, even though I’m not a Catholic:

Four footed "christians" would be subject to the same rules: No rutting without a ceremony, No disorderly conduct, No prophesying without an interpreter, and while not explicitly required, they really ought to tithe one chewy bone out of ten. ☺
