Hawking invested himself greatly in superstring theory which is what supersymmetry relies on. That's how he got to multiple universes. Sadly for him, supersymmetry has petered out thanks to the Large Hadron Collider. I feel sorry for those who dedicated their careers to supersymmetry, only to have it melt away.
God exists because the Big Bang brought all about from absolute nothingness. Absolute as in no space, no dimensions, no mathematics, no physics, no time, no anything. There was no "before" because of absolute nothingness. It is an absolute beginning.
