The question being answered was about RCIA as a path or process. The WHOLE THING, in every part, from beginning to end, is about salvation through Christ.
As a member of my parish RCIA teaching team -— I just taught a lesson tonight, my topic bring the History of the Church -— I can assure you that Christ is the source, center and summit of every lesson.
Greetings Mrs. Don-o,
“The question being answered was about RCIA as a path or process. The WHOLE THING, in every part, from beginning to end, is about salvation through Christ.”
No it is not.
Sadly, the Gospel of Grace is not taught. Instead, there is a worldly system of works and merit. In addition, a collection of syncretic pagan practices have been steadily added that obscure much of the truth that remains.
The article demonstrates no Scriptural truth is required to explain the process - just the words of men. It really isnt about coming to accept the incredible gift of God by grace, but instead simply joining a religion and assuming that will hopefully- someday - maybe - if you do the right things to earn merit - you may have eternal life.
None of which is the Gospel.
mrs. don-o, exactly, my wife and stepson attended rcia years ago and the teaching and training is full of scripture, and christ, etc....leading of course to attending mass, drenched in Christ and scripture from start to finish.
the usual anti catholic suspects on any of these threads like to nit-pick....
Just curious if you included the following paragraph of the OP in your "history of the church" lessons:
Path or process??
Jesus answered, The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.
1 John 3:21-24 Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him. And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. John 6:28-29
Then they asked him, What must we do to do the works God requires?
