Easter in Israel is essentially centered on one specific tradition, the Holy Fire ceremony, which takes place on the Saturday before Easter, and is the hallmark of this holiday's season in Jerusalem for local Christians plus the thousands of faithful who make the pilgrimage to the Holy Land for this special occasion.
All of Lenten and Easter events culminate in that moment, when the spirit of Jesus fills the tomb site in the Holy Sepulchre. According to their belief, a flame appears in the tomb and is caught by the Greek patriarch and an Armenian Orthodox priest and is shared with congregants holding candles in the church.

It’s nice The Jerusalem Post prints this article.

I dont know if the Israeli govt is in any form Theistic, but it’s certainly the Jewish State, and it’s nice that they print info for Christian occasions.

I believe they are secular. However, they did condemn the recent atrocity of slaying the Copts on Palm Sunday in Egypt, so I give Israel props for that.

It shows a good nature.

And I couldn’t even read that article. To sickening.

Al Sisi sounds like a stand up guy (as compared to the garbage that’s over there).

He needs to start clamping down harder.

I’ve a feeling that the war for control of that country is not quite over.

I was in contact with a man from Greece years ago who was a psychiatrist with a very secure lifestyle and future. Being Greek Orthodox he went to Jerusalem to see the Holy Fire and videotaped it. It's probably still out there somewhere.

A few years later he entered a monastery on Mt Athos.

Christian Holy Week or as Muslims call it: The Week that
never was.

1. According to the Koran and Muslim belief: Jesus was never crucified.

2. If Jesus was never crucified, then it means that Jesus never rose from the dead, and Easter never happened.

3. So what happened at the crucifixion according to many Muslims? A crucifixion did take place, but God in his wisdom put another person on the cross and made that person appear to be Jesus to his followers standing around the cross.

4. So, according to Muslims, what happened to Jesus?

Allah took Jesus bodily into heaven where he waits to return to earth on the day of judgment.

5. So again, to Muslims, the Christian Holy Week is
really the week that never was.

They are simply in denial of history.

It is nice of them, I agree.

And surprising to learn from the article that the Israelis participate in the event. They seal the tomb with wax the night prior. Like stand-ins for the Romans. Is there any other religious holiday where Israelis participate actively with Christians?
