Happy Easter freepers!

Peace be upon you...
Was making my way up over a pass, with my tail dragging big time.
It was a very cloudy day, on Froze-To-Death plateau. Elevation was about 11,000ft.
The clouds were barely above the mountain peak. Almost seemed like you could grab them.
I'm nearing the top and getting my butt handed to me.
Just as I'm reaching the top, the clouds open a little and the sun streams through.
I got to watch as the sun rays moved down and across the valley...like something in a movie, and yet this was real life.
Absolutely AWE inspiring.
Instantly, the words to How Great Thou Art come to mind, and I CAN'T HELP BUT SING.
But Jesus answered, "I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!"
225# of rough, tough, construction worker (who goes by the handle Mountn Man), tears streaming down my face, and I'm almost sobbing as I'm singing with joy.
Tears in my eyes as I type this.
I get misty eyed now, every time I hear that song.
This version with Carrie is by far my favorite.
Love this worship song...sang it with 500000 or so other men at promise keepers in dc in 1998...very moving.
Carl Gustav Boberg was inspired to write the original Swedish lyrics of “How Great Thou Art” following a thunderstorm in Mönsterås, Sweden, in 1885. The Reverend Billy Graham used it during his crusades and made it popular in the US during the 1950’s.
Despite its popularity, there was a fight to get it into the Methodist Church’s hymnal—some of the Methodist bigwigs objected to including a song associated with the unwashed rabble who followed Billy Graham. But it made it into the hymnal—hymn #77 in the current one—and remains very popular among Methodists.
Lord my God! When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works thy hand hath made,
I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed;
Refrain:
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
When through the woods and forest glades I wander
and hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;
when I look down from lofty mountain grandeur,
and hear the brook, and feel he gentle breeze;
Refrain
And when I think that God his son not sparing,
Sent him to die I scarce can take it in,
That on the cross my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin:
Refrain
When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And take me home- what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration
And there proclaim, my God, how great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

Bump for later listening
Thnx for sharing
What an awesome day that was!
And unto you & yours, Vendome.
Yes! Whenever I hear this song, I cry. I can’t help it, I just do.
That must have been one very blessed moment for you!
I can’t imagine how glorious that must have been. So many voices praising Him! Think of it, resounding in Heaven and unto Him.
Thank you, infool7. Such beautiful words. Just reading them makes me cry.
The most touching rendition form me was when the blind girl sang it at the prayer service on Inauguration Day. It even brought Melania to tears.
Thank you for sharing that. I did not know that bit of history. I am of Amish descent, born in my Grandmother’s farmhouse. I so loved life there.
When my Mother remarried, we moved & I went to Sunday School in the Methodist Church.
I was just a little girl, but I remember a couple who taught a class. Their eyes, their love shining upon us kids. I wanted that. I was too young to understand or comprehend what made that glow. I just knew that I felt so loved and safe when I was in their class.
In all of that congregation, only my Minister, his wife & that special couple had love just shining down on me.
Later, I finally understood and received His love. I gave my heart to Jesus via Pastor Bill Bright’s Campus Crusade for Christ.
Imagine...
When we’re all (those who’ve accepted Jesus) in Heaven
and sing this song for the fist time.
Gender won’t matter.
Nationality won’t matter.
Language won’t matter.
We will all know this song.
Our hearts as well as our voices will sing.
We will sing with complete humbleness and reverence
and with complete worshipful joy.
The universe will reverberate.
Millions or billions, all singing together.
And yet all worshiping God in our very intimacy.
You’re welcome, I thought to put the words up for those not able to play the video while reading this thread. The song is very moving for me personally as well. and for some of us the melody is also present when reading the beautiful lyrics.
You’re so welcome, italianquaker.
What a blessed day that was!
