The demographic of the church determines if this would ever be likely to occur.

We never did find out what issue was at dispute?
Why didn’t they want this pastor to continue in his leadership position?
I figure it has to do with one of three things; a. His strict adherence to religious principal. b. His money management
c. His record of social intercourse.

Back when I lived in a seedier part of the world, I learned that “Hey, motherfxxxer!!!!” was a friendly greeting ... among members of a certain demographic.

The closest I can think of in my church was when a man (not a member) came in with the intent of shooting the pastor. He stood up to shoot and two brothers tackled him.

From what I gathered many wanted to fire the pastor. They voted but still could not agree then this happened.

For real they do indeed need a new pastor if this is going to happen

I’ve seen some spirited church discussions before, but I’ve never seen a table thrown.

In other news, Jesus called two of his disciples the sons of thunder, because they got angry. The body of Christ isn’t always on the same page.

The problem here is the controversial pastor. He is allowing a rift in the church. Probably even promoting it for his own gain and not looking out for the good of the church.

And I say that, and I didn’t even read the article or know the church.

No it is not common. Usually the church will split up and half stay where they are and the rest go build a new church next door. It is the southern Baptist way. That’s why we have churches everywhere, but no substance.

Presbyterian is my preferred form of church government. We have seven elders on our Session. The brawl is smaller and there is at least a one elder advantage for one side. :)

Matthew 21:12: Comes to mind.

And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,

“This could only happen at a African American church.. The brawl I mean..”

To many people in there with anger management issues.

It’s happened here too. Looks like this church is going to split over this if they that upset and can’t even calm down enough to vote

Did you really mean "Santeria"?

If so, Baphomet! That was really funny!

Interesting. In the Orthodox Church we tend to reserve violence for resolving other issues, like what day is it (May 2 or April 20)?

The awesome part is that after she throws and 8 foot folding table, she catches a thrown chair with her left hand while backing up and holding her purse in her right hand. That’s a battler!

Love to see her work the floor at the DNC!

At most mainline churches, that kind of exertion would cause the congregations’ pacemakers to give out.
