It is more than just the Pope.

Too many leaders just go along to get along and have a progressive viewpoint that government is the provider and not Christ.

If you don’t like it ignore it.

Hilarious coming from the same person who implied that we were cowards for not defending our faith by using the Caucus designation.

Sorry but Jesus is the Jewish Messiah.

Sorry, but the myth man is neither Jewish nor Messiah. Pure blasphemy. Only in the minds of those who know nothing about Judaism or Jewishness and have need to 'substantiate' a different religion.

We Gentiles are just grafted into the true vine as the Tanach tells us.
Again, more pure blasphemy. There is no 'grafting' and the Tanach says no such thing, quite the opposite in fact.

If you knew anything about Judaism, you would know it is a religion of *separation*: night & day, sacred & secular, men & women, man & God (dwell on that one), the six days & Shabbat, clean & unclean, Kosher & unkosher, Jew & gentile (Hello!), etc.

It is one thing to not believe in Judaism, but usurping its Truth and then perverting it in furtherance of a clearly different religion is quite another. There's also Divine punishment - detailed in the Tanach.

If you knew anything about religions, you would know Islam is much closer to Judaism than Christianity, starting with MONOtheism and the NON Divinity of the myth man.

And as for that silly star chart - it is a JEWISH High Holy time on the JEWISH calendar. Period.

Different religions have different gods, that's why they are...*different relgions*.

It is that simple.

The decline began waaaay before the whole pedophile priest scandal. Roughly back to Vatican II when the RC Church we’d all been raised in become something quite different.

My husband and I, non-Catholics, have been attending Msgr. Pope’s parish Masses for the better part of the past year. I would venture a guess that if more priests and parishes were conducted like his, (very traditional RC except the music), the pews would fill up again.

Msgr. Pope’s sermons are deep, but stated in terms anyone can understand. He refers to many of the lessons of the Bible as Jesus ‘painting a picture ..” He gives plenty to think about, and behaviors to try to emulate for life (or at least the following week). It’s not at all what one would expect there in the middle of “the swamp” of DC. Msgr. Pope promotes protests at the PP abortion center, and decries abortion, ‘gay marriage,’ and other currently politically correct lifestyles that even most Catholic priests and bishops are afraid to approach..

As to the music exception in this parish, it’s a plus IMO. The parish was created in the mid 60s, joining a then-Black and a then-White parish. My husband has referred jokingly to the main Sunday Mass as a “Baptist Mass,” so strong is the black influence on the music. Best choir and music. Literally rocks. The Mass last two hours. Everything, but everything, is sung. Some fantastic singers, and great hymns. And nearly the entire church is filled with a incredibly diverse congregation: black/white, young/old, Republican/Democrat. What joins them is their faith as expressed by Msgr. Pope on behalf of the RCC.

If Judaism is closer to Islam in its tenets then it is to Christianity, then Islam is closer to Judaism then it is to Christianity. That is what you are saying...right? That Islam is as Judaism?

So you are saying that it is impossible for the Living God to project himself into Matter, to place his thumbprint into matter by means of the begotten Son of Man?(The Son of man from Daniel 7:13!!?)

Yeshua is Messiah, come in the flesh, indeed the very WORD or Torah of God in flesh; that one that Job predicted “Though this skin be destroyed, yet in my flesh will I see God standing upon the Earth, in the latter day”!
(In other words Job predicts his own resurrection in a new body!)

You seem to be the one with the problem. I stand by what I said about the caucus thread.

But understand this, on an open forum people can post and will post.

As the RM notes you can either respond or ignore the post.

Well, have it your way. The rest of us are not talking about religions, but about reality. While we must use labels to talk about reality, the labels are not the underlying reality.

What I pointed out I did so in a peaceful way.

A discussion on the Catholic reliance upon Mary verses only through faith in Christ and Christ alone isn’t part of an intellectual discussion?? Got it.

I don’t mind a good intellectual discussion every once in a while, but it must be an honest one, acknowledging what it the truth of what is being discussed. And the truth is, the Catholic Church teaches that salvation is through Christ alone. This teaching is repeated over and again in the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC)

See

Jesus Christ is true God and true man, in the unity of his divine person; for this reason he is the one and only mediator between God and men. CCC 480

The cross is the unique sacrifice of Christ, the one mediator between God and men ... CCC 618

Jesus Christ, having entered the sanctuary of heaven once and for all, intercedes constantly for us as the mediator who assures us of the permanent outpouring of the Holy Spirit. CCC 667

“The one mediator, Christ, established and ever sustains here on earth his holy Church, the community of faith, hope, and charity, as a visible organization through which he communicates truth and grace to all men.” CCC 771

... the one Christ is the mediator and the way of salvation; he is present to us in his body which is the Church. CCC 846

... the one mediator between God and men, Christ Jesus. CCC 956

... Christ the only Mediator ... CCC 1369

Christ Jesus, the “one mediator between God and men.” CCC 1544

Christ, high priest and unique mediator ... CCC 1546

... “the one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus...” CCC 2574

The prayer of Moses responds to the living God’s initiative for the salvation of his people. It foreshadows the prayer of intercession of the unique mediator, Christ Jesus. CCC 2593

Jesus, the only mediator, is the way of our prayer ... CCC 2674

Let me be honest. At the masses scriptures are read and the priests do homilies on them.

Just telling the truth.

And the truth is, the Catholic Church teaches that salvation is through Christ alone. This teaching is repeated over and again in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

Yet the CCC has this also.

829 "But while in the most Blessed Virgin the Church has already reached that perfection whereby she exists without spot or wrinkle, the faithful still strive to conquer sin and increase in holiness. And so they turn their eyes to Mary":306 in her, the Church is already the "all-holy."

We can add this to the myriad of other writings of Roman Catholic "doctors" that have not been renounced nor condemned by the RCC over the centuries.

"Those who do not serve Mary will not be saved ..."... St. John Damascene

Hence, says the Abbot Guerric, "he who serves Mary, and for whom She intercedes, is as certain of Heaven as if he was already there." St. John Damascene also says, "that to serve Mary and be Her courtier is the greatest honor we can possibly possess; for to serve the Queen of Heaven is already to reign there, and to live under Her commands is more than to govern." On the other hand, he adds, "that those who do not serve Mary will not be saved; for those who are deprived of the help of this great Mother are also deprived of that of Her Son and of the whole court of Heaven."

St. Antoninus says that "souls protected by Mary, and on which She casts Her eyes, are necessarily justified and saved.

O happy they who obtain the favor of Mary!" exclaims St. Bonaventure; "they will be recognized by the blessed as their companions, and whoever bears the stamp of a servant of Mary is already enrolled in the Book of Life."

http://fatima.org/Crusader/cr61/cr61pg20.asp

We also have the promises made by the apparitions claiming to be Mary.

You're probably aware of the movement to have the Fifth Marian Dogma approved.

I am not aware of any denunciation by the Roman Catholic Church over any of these.

Would you be the first Roman Catholic to publicly condemn these as false?
