Mormons drop Scout programs for older teens

SALT LAKE CITY — The LDS Church, the oldest and largest charter organization of the Boy Scouts of America, will drop Scouting from its Young Men's program for boys ages 14 through 17.

Effective Jan. 1, the move will carve about 180,000 Mormon boys from the Varsity and Venturing Scout programs in the United States and Canada, replacing them with activities created for boys in those age groups by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The church will continue to sponsor Cub Scouts for boys 8 to 10 and Boy Scout programs for those 11 through 13 in those two countries, but statements released by the church about the announcement signaled that it may drop those programs in the future, too.

I don’t usually reply to Morgana’s posts because they are pro-Globalist propaganda. But this article sets a bookmark in our civil society, because it demonstrates the effectiveness of Globalist social engineering in promoting gay lifestyle into the Boy Scouts. A decade later the Boy Scouts became toxic to society. At the same time our elementary schools are promoting the new liberal agenda, and so the character traits of

are being thrown on the fire of all-consuming egotism.

For a period of time, our family had left the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, and we attended a Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod Church.

I though it rather odd that the LCMS had no problems in supporting and working with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) but that the WELS had established their own version, Lutheran Pioneer Scouts.

Now it makes perfect sense.

Here’s a radical idea: I think the NRA should have a version of *real* Scouts, where they teach marksmanship, leadership and small-unit tactics.

I think they should do this for adults, too.

The Boy Scouts had been successfully fighting the homos for years, but it wasn't until Barry got involved that his hand-picked guy successfully made the effort to open the door to all the homos.

Speaking as a parent of three Eagle Scouts, and having a best friend who worked as an editor for Boy's Life magazine and also having a friend who is still in Boy Scout headquarter's management, I can say that the Boy Scout's had carefully put into place checks to keep the boys safe. Such as, no adult could sleep in the same tent as a scout unless they were father and son. In a two-man tent the age difference between the two boys could not be more than two years apart. On every campout it was required that there be at least two adult leaders present. And other such rules.

For many years, the Boy Scouts had to deal with anti-God nuts, gays who wanted in, and girls who thought they were boys. They called it "The Three G's" and on one occasion my friend who worked at headquarters said that they found a guy who had broken into headquarters and was rifling through their files.

Boy Scouts was not run by gays, it was run by people who really loved scouting and who loved helping to instill godly characters traits into their young charges. I have personally been to various confabs where I got to see that true leadership. The homos who would slip in on accession were always dealt with. However, when Barry put his nose into it - it all changed. Now there is nothing left to do but leave.

Our military valued the leadership traits instilled by the Boy Scouts.

Glad the Mormons will let Scouts continue if they are trying to complete the Eagle rank. Good goal.

When I was in this situation, I had a religious organization that was social (parties ski trips Etc.) along with the more rugged Explorer Program with the BSA. I believe these two sides of the program should be available for young adults.

I have no idea what the Mormons will implement, but the Eagle Scout rank is a well known achievement that will be hard to imagine a Mormon equivalent.

I personally understand that the Mormons are very influential in keeping Scouting available to American Boys. I am saddened to see this development. The Mormons could very well implement a dual approach and provide for the ongoing Scouting program supplemented with a church sponsored program of whatever they have in mind.

I’m disappointed to see this but not surprised. As you see in the article, the LDS church has been associated with Scouting for over 100 years. It provided a ready made program for teenage boys fully compatible with the church’s beliefs without the need to create a full program. I’m also certain the church leadership’s heavy involvement with the scouting leadership over the years was also a factor in the church trying to stay with the scouts as much as they have.

I can only assume that in the past year or two, further changes have made it impossible to stay with the Boy Scouts any more. The church leadership has never made changes like this quickly. I think they are now in a transition period which will eventually end with the church ending it’s association with the Scouts completely. I can only assume that replacement, solely church based, programs are at least, almost ready and may be even modeled after the already existing programs for girls, as the church has never worked with the Girl Scouts.

IIRC - it was LDS “leadership” in the People’s Republic of Boulderistan, circa 1976, under whose purview the antics of David Floyd Slusher’s queer antics at a German camp were known, and covered up - in the process of unleashing him upon campers in Colorado.
