Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
Meditating Upon The Names and Attributes of God
HaKadosh....The Holy One
(Old Testament)
Isaiah 40:25
To whom will you compare me?
Or who is my equal? says the Holy One. (End of Scripture Passage)
HaKadosh....The Holy One
There are many times in Scripture where God is referred to as "The Holy One of Israel". Our finite minds are inadequate to comprehend the holiness of God, so this Central Aspect of His Character is often neglected. Neglected, because Holiness is so hard to define in our own terms. We can say "Hallowed", "Saintly", "Sacred", "Special" and a host of other words, but none really define "HOLINESS".. It's beyond our reach, except when God Himself reaches to US. Even the Angels in heaven are awed by the Holiness of God.
We pray for the Repentance, Restoration, and Renewal of Our Beloved Nation.
"To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?" says the Holy One."

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
Oh LORD, Our God
Hallowed Be Your Most Holy and Sacred Name,
Precious and Holy,
There is No Other,
All-Powerful and Mighty,
Full of Grace, Love, Healing, and Justice
Glorious in Majesty,
Magnificent in Splendor,
Awesome in Power
And Wonderful Beyond Measure!
We are overwhelmed by Your Holiness
Your Goodness,
And Your Purity.
Sanctify us to Yourself, Touch us with Your Love, and give us peace.
May the Leaders of Our Own Beloved USA
Receive Wisdom from You
to do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.
Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
I was working in a little music store in Florida, and a very nice-looking customer was testing out the drums. He was an exceptionally AWESOME drummer, and purchased a few cymbal stands during his visit. I soon became engaged in conversation with this very nice man, who wanted to teach his son drums, just as his own late Dad had taught him, many years ago. The son, however, was kind of a smart-alec, and didn't want to take drum lessons from "his old man", so in spite of the dad's awesome skill on drums, the boy really needed a structured, educational environment for his lessons. In the process of registering the boy for drum lessons, the Dad and I got into a conversation about child-rearing, which morphed into a discussion of stage-craft, monitors, equipment, and so on, and it appeared that this awesome drummer was a real veteran of the rock music circuit.
As the conversation progressed, we began to speak about vocal lessons (my FAVORITE) and the man said that his band was planning a reunion, but his lead vocalist had lost some of his vocal prowess due to age (and probably other things), so I taught the man some breathing exercises and suggested he share them with "Robert" the lead singer. After further conversation, I realized that the person I was chatting with was the son of the deceased drummer for Led Zeppelin, and "Robert" was Robert Plant. And I DID NOT reveal my conclusions! I just smiled and kept talking! :-)
Now, you may wonder, what does that have to do with today's Bible Study? An old SNL Skit shows "Wayne and Garth" meeting a member of Aerosmith in a chance encounter. When they realize who they are talking to, they both assume an attitude of "worship" and chant "WE'RE NOT WORTHY!" over and over. It was funny at the time, but shows a very dangerous tendency of us humans to worship idols. The idols do not have to be made of stone, gold, or even "nature". They can be movie stars, rock musicians, politicians, or even family members. But these people are just humans like ourselves, with family issues, sins, and perhaps some talent. But that is all they are.
We Worship a Holy God. His Glory is Not Shared with anything else. He Alone deserves our worship. And, yes, to quote Wayne and Garth, we are NOT "worthy". But The Holy One reaches to Us, just as we are, and draws us to HIM, the Holy One of Israel.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
God Bless America!

Another fantastic story from your living ‘archives’, and amazingly relevant as usual. Thank you much.
Not relevant for this reason, but then again...
Well it is timely and funny nonetheless:
Again last night I was thinking about the name “Tzemach” which is always or almost always translated as “Branch.” It has become the well-known Messianic name of “Branch”, but it has bugged me forever because outside of the Strong’s dictionary, the noun is simply the generic word for a plant.
Ergo, tzemach shmo is “his name is a plant”, which of course invites my mind to ponder all the possibilities and layers of meaning, and that in there is something really ‘dumb’ and obvious that would shut down all the mystical woo-woo that has been generated about a name ‘Branch’.
Hence one day I delighted in the idea of how Jesus was viewed by the experts: Yew taxus. Ha, well I am easily amused. :)
A guy named Plant (and falsely worshiped even)... that ranks right up there in what I’m talking about, heh.

Thanks!
It is human nature to be nostalgist about the past, and want to keep hanging on to the best of it just a bit longer, but time marches on, and people get old. :(
I hope that kid learned to play! That’s how the past stays alive and in the present (and future).

Oh he did! He had an excellent teacher.
The shop where I worked is now defunct, but I do better teaching on my own anyway.

Wow. Another great story. Your memoirs, if you write them, would be very interesting.
