At first, yes. But if Ruff refused to repent, I think He might just suggest that pearls shouldn’t be cast before swine.

You can't "receive" forgiveness unless you have opened your heart via repentance.

Jesus makes the offer of forgiveness to those broken-hearted over their sin.

For us to say "Hey, I forgive you" at this point would most likely be heard as "Hey, no big deal." And that is cooperating with a corrupt conscience.
