In the bad old days, when Catholic parents reported that a priest had abused their child, and/or that the pastor was aware of the abuse, the bishop might scold them, saying that their complaints were nonsense, saying that they had no proof, accusing them of calumny. The bishop might make these harsh statements, in the bad old days, even if he was fully aware of charges against the priesteven if he had encouraged the pastor to resign because of his mishandling of the situation.
These are the bad old days.
But in the bad old days the faithful parents still had some reasons to hope for justice:
In the bad old days, a bishop could dismiss and insult aggrieved parents just because he could: because no one held him accountable.
These are the bad old days.
“Either shut it down or remedy the situation by allowing women to become priests and also allow priests to be married. Its simple.”
Are you Catholic?
Theological issues aside, how does allowing women to become priests solve anything???
Ordaining priestesses is infallibly defined to be impossible. Advocating it is material heresy.
A church that did that would not be the Catholic Church anymore, just another liberal quasi-Protestant sect.
You're essentially saying, "This disease is so serious that the only way to cure it is to give the patient many times the lethal dose of cyanide."
I hope you're not a doctor.
Advocating it is material heresy>>>>>>>
Yes I am proud of being a heretic! The church os being destroyed by its own bizarre patriarchal culture. Time to balance it with embodiment of the Holy Ladies.
If not, its a goner, heresy or not.
“...allow priests to be married. Its simple...”
Not at all. There is no evidence, anywhere, that allowing a predatory pedophile to get married fixes anything. This is pure BS.
You have to deal with these people as criminals and remove them from society.
The Eastern Rite Catholics do have married priests and allow for men before becoming priests to get married.
As for women becoming priests, not going to happen.
Second it. This is a crime issue.
I am a Christian....not a Roman Catholic.
Ordaining women as priests is not supported by Scripture.
The RCC would benefit from allowing their priests to marry. That is Scriptural as evidenced by what is seen in the New Testament regarding the married apostles/disciples.
If the church does not put the pedophilia genie back in its rectal bottle, the church is done, and it will shit the bed withing 40 years , two generations.
I agree the RCC needs to address the problems with pedophilia and homosexuality in their church. That, along with several other needed reforms, is long overdue.
This pope likes gays too much.
Patriarchal culture doesn't cause homosexual men to molest teenage boys, which is what this is really about. Take you Marxist, feminist garbage somewhere else.
From a historic and Biblical perspective, yes.
Thank-you and God Bless.
Amen. Byzantine rite in Denver is strong and growing. People seem to be drawn to the piety of the Divine Liturgy. It’s hard to describe the celebration. All of the senses are engaged. Everybody sings everything except the homily and the profession of faith before Communion. The second time I attended Divine Liturgy in Wasilla AK, I knew I was HOME.
“Second it. This is a crime issue.” Absolutely. And although all of it is criminal behavior, and the younger the victim, harsher the penalty must be. Pedophilia has a virtual 100% recidivism rate. The perps cannot be rehabilitated.
Say, lend me a hand while I pick myself up from the floor, where I've fallen from a wild episode of hysterical laughter.
Have you ever taken a real look at the women who want to be --- or even, delusionally, claim to be ---- priestesses/ womenpriests/ womyn-wiccan-whatever in the Catholic Church? Also known as the ex-Catholic wing of the National Abortion Rights Action League?
Geez. Somebody around here could use a little Reality Orientation.
very little of the RCC is biblical....most of it is man made dogma, and a clone of the ancient Babylonian mystery religion.
