Why can’t it just be that one of those times he was lying? Keep in mind that he is a Modernist. They flip flop all of the time.
Francis says whatever is convenient for him to say, and in any case, his words are usually so chaotic and rambling that it’s hard to tell what he means. But sometimes the mask slips, and on this one (and on homosexuality in general) he’s not good at hiding his sympathies.
