"El Nekamoth - GOD My Avenger"

Vengeance? WE are taught not to seek vengeance, to "turn the other cheek", to "rise above" and to forgive. Yet, The Almighty gives us this Name through the voice of the Psalmist David.Those of us who believe that all Scripture is Inspired struggle with this.

Like us, David was human, and like us, he suffered the indignation of false accusation. Even though he has a number of opportunities to wreak his OWN Vengeance against his tormentor, he stepped back from doing so, and cried out to God instead. King Saul eventually met an ignominious defeat and a horrible death, but it was not David's doing. In fact, David mourned for Saul, his enemy, lamenting, "How the Mighty Have Fallen!", giving us a wonderful expression in our own language. We never have to seek vengeance. It is not our job. The Father sees all, and the wicked will not escape justice. The Vengeance of God is a Terrible Thing to Behold, but it is not for us to take pleasure in it. Like David, we need to step back, let go, and let God Take Care of it. David fought the good fight, did not cower in the face of evil, and never gave up, but he did not take Personal Vengeance.

We pray for the Repentance, Restoration, and Renewal of Our Beloved Nation.

He is the God who avenges me, who subdues nations under me

The LORD Who Avenges Your People.
We Know the World hates Your People because they hate You.
Your Word tells us This Would Happen.
We also know that our Battle is not with other people, but with spiritual forces that oppose You.
Yet We groan under the oppression of the Enemy
Who, Day by Day, For Centuries, Torments Your People
You Alone Are The One With Authority to Avenge the Great Wrongs Against Your People.
You Alone are the Eternal Arbiter of Justice.
We pray For True, Godly Justice For Those Who love You and Who Are Called By Your Name!

May the Leaders of Our Own Beloved USA
Receive Wisdom from You
to do the Right Thing.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Several nights a week, my youngest sister babysits her Four-Year-Old twin grandsons. She often invites me for dinner, as I live a few houses away. At first, everybody sat around the table glued to their "devices" (The new word for a Smart-Phone), including the twins who play games on them. (I do NOT have a "device". A simple flip phone for calling AAA by the side of the road is enough for me!) So there I sat, surrounded, but alone!

So I started a game. I would ask a question, and then we would go around the table with our answers and WHY.

"What's your favorite drink?" I asked.

Then, counter-clockwise, each person gave their answer. Then the next person got to ask the question, and it went round and round. We had discussions about favorite drinks, colors, food, TV Shows, Movies, Games, Cartoon Characters, etc. Soon we were done eating, had engaged in delightful dinner-table conversation, and the "devices" had not been picked up even once!

The "devices" have changed an entire generation's method of relating to one another. Because of the anonymity of the Internet, people do and say thing that they never would if they had to say it face-to-face. New terms (or new meanings for familiar terms) have entered our vocabulary, such as hacking, virus, worm, trojan, cyber-stalking, cyber-bullying, revenge-porn, spoofing, phishing, hijacking, DOS attacks, etc. There are many more, and MOST of them have a negative connotation.

In the wrong hands, the ability to enter someone's private space via the Internet is a very dangerous thing. You can't walk into a bank and empty someone's account, but you CAN do that on the Internet. Your medical records used to be between you and your doctor, but now someone with the right password can see them and possibly use it against you!

This is why the One True God has given us this ancient command. HE is Our Avenger. We are not to take our own revenge, even if it is our power to do so. In Florida, a group of "mean girls" beat their victim mercilessly and posted it on You Tube. In Massachusetts, a young girl was driven to suicide by her schoolmates' "cyber-bullying". These were all some kind of "revenge" for an online comment!

Just because we are capable of "getting back" at someone, doesn't mean we should. God will take care of injustice, in His Time, and in His Own Way.

We were eating in a restaurant a couple months ago, when i noticed a family of four eating at a table near us.

Mother, father, teen daughter and adolescent son.

They were still waiting for their meal to arrive.

Every one of them had a smartphone and their faces were buried in them, not talking, just ‘surfing’ whatever social media they had and not conversing or even looking at each other...........................

I have no cell phone of any kind......................

Then there is the irony of those buried in their phones and tethered to social media accounts being ‘connected’ the world.

Down is up and antisocial is social.

But back to your point about vengeance, I like to say that if people knew what they were doing, they wouldn’t do that.

To take vengeance for a genuinely evil act may seem justifiable, but what if the avenger understood that he just now gave a reason for that wicked person himself to be avenged. What would have been his deserved punishment for the original act ends up reduced out of mercy [for having been wronged by an avenger].

And also, what if an evil person seeks vengeance because he was offended by an innocent act? He thinks he is punishing the ‘wrongdoer’, but instead he now set in motion God’s blessings upon the falsely accused. Thus, his curses are turned to blessings.

So, with that perspective, noone should desire to take vengeance because then he unwittingly alters the Lord’s payback plan, which is always waaay better and more ingenious than anything man could think up [in his limited perspective].

Righteous people naturally want justice for the massive political corruption that is being exposed. Therefore, the last thing anyone should be doing is wishing harm upon the perps (terrible diseases, accidents, et al), or directly causing it. When people do that, they are voiding out some of the Lord’s vengeance, which is superior.

It’s like mathematical equations. They absolutely must balance or else it’s not the truth. The rule of law never fails, though it certainly can look like that here on the ground.

How much of a nuissance does DIY vengeance cause God, because then He has no choice but to rework and rebalance equations.

Haman hanged on his own gallows. That’s the way it should be. Ironic, and efficient too. :)

We are all witnessing the Lord’s repayment plan for the 70-year run of the evil Establishment. The show started with a man named *trump*. Pass the popcorn.
