Following the Philadelphia Eagles 41-33 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis, Minn. on Sunday night, Eagles Coach Doug Pederson said: I can only give the praise to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for giving me this opportunity.
Dan Patrick of NBC Sports asked Pederson: How do you explain this that nine years ago, youre coaching in high school and here you are with [the Lombardi] trophy?
Pederson responded: I can only give the praise to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for giving me this opportunity, and Im going to tell you something: I got the best players in the world and its a resilient group, I love this coaching staff-Mr. Lurie, the owner. Not only do we have the best fans in the world, we now have the best team in the world. Thank you guys.
This marked the first time that the Philadelphia Eagles had won the Super Bowl. The Eagles did win the NFL Championship in 1960, before the Super Bowl was inaugurated.
How big will his fine be?
Right, theyre going to let a white Christian do this?
The have not played in London yet.
Malcolm Jenkins has raised the fist, the other day whined about how terrible this country is. Saw on the news that he declared he will not visit the White House. Reportedly two other Eagles plays also said they won’t go to the WH.
Being an avid Packer fan and yes I was around when Vince Lombardii was coach, I dare say he’s rolling in his grave.
Kneeling, long hair, tattoos, disrespect for flag, on and on.
Bet he was smiling at these thankful praises as the Lombardi trophy was handed out.
He didn’t take any bs. Winning wasn’t everything, winning was the only thing!
Like who cares about these self-serving goofballs.
Foles is going to be a starter next year somewhere else, there’s no way Philly can keep them both.
You’re right about most things.
He looked awful comfortable, and plans on being a preacher when he retires.
It will be interesting. The Eagles seem so authentic.
Bump
The ‘Onion’ has a bit of fun ...
Doug Pederson Informs Nick Foles He’s Been Traded To Browns While Handing Him Lombardi Trophy
Ok. Im glad he specified he was giving Jesus credit for his personal opportunities in life. Nothing I hate more than players or coaches expressing the opinion that the Almighty hates the opposing team.
God works in mysterious ways. I doubt all this was an accident
Not to mention Pederson was the backup QB for Favre.
Foles is the real deal....as a good human.

Yep, and a few Eagles are already dissing the White House.
Gullible people.
Carson Wentz is, AFAIK, not expected to return to NFL condition until late next season. What are the Eagles supposed to do in the first 12 games????OTOH, Foles has been with the Eagles, the Rams, the Raiders, the Chiefs, and now back with the Eagles. Foles had an excellent year with the Eagles before being traded. Now hes celebrating a Super Bowl win. Where else has he had any success at all? And why would he want to pass up a shot at another ring?
I dont know Foles contract situation, but IMHO if the Eagles have a say in the matter they wont want to trade him for any price that doesnt include a real quarterback to win the first 12 games of the upcoming season.
I didn’t realize Wentz would be out that long.
Thats what I hear on the radio, back when the injury had been diagnosed - that it took a year. However, last night I heard on TV (so it must be true </sarcasm> that Wentz will be ready for the start of the season. Mea culpa, that changes the equation. But it was also noted at that time that the Eagles paid Foles 12 megabucks for the season, so being a reliable backup is hardly a contemptible position. Again, Foles has been a hero in Philadelphia - twice now, under two different coaches (albeit under only one owner) - and he has been a zero three other places.
The TV show that said Wentz would start the 18 season this coming fall also bruited the possibility that the Eagles might stand pat until the start of the season, counting on the market for first-string quarterbacks to peak after a game or two when somebody realizes that theyre going nowhere without a quarterback upgrade. That worked out at the start of the 16 season, when the Vikings' QB went down and the Eagles got a first-round draft pick for Sam Bradford.
