In their thinking throughout the centuries Muslims took an active part in building what is called Russian Civilization.
When you also consider the lands that Islam penetrated early in its expansion were ‘not part of Russia at the time’ and only annexed to the expanding Russian Empire centuries later..then you understand why the difference between Russia and the West and how their views differ.
