Georgetown Honors Pro-Abortion Senator Whose Bishop Just Barred Him From Communion

WASHINGTON, D.C., February 28, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – Tonight, Georgetown University will present pro-abortion Senator Dick Durbin, D-IL, whose bishop recently barred him from Holy Communion, with an award for devoting “his life to the core Jesuit value of service to others.”

Georgetown President John J. DeGioia will present Durbin with the Jesuit university’s “Timothy S. Healy, S.J. Award for exemplary public service.”

This award is “conferred upon Georgetown alumni who have rendered outstanding and exemplary service to his/her profession or community in support of humanitarian causes,” according to the University.

Durbin received his bachelor’s and law degrees from Georgetown.

“I am humbled to be in the company of so many who have spent their lives in the service of others,” Durbin said in a press release. “Father Pedro Arrupe challenged all alumni of Jesuit schools to engage in the struggle for justice on behalf of the most vulnerable in our society. I have tried to meet that challenge during my time in office and am honored to be recognized by my fellow Georgetown alumni.”

“This is a smack in the face of our Catholic identity and values,” Michael Khan, a senior at Georgetown and the former President of Georgetown Right to Life, told LifeSiteNews.

Khan, the co-director of the Cardinal O’Connor Conference on Life at Georgetown University, said, “Calling Senator Durbin, one of the most pro-abortion members of the United States Senate, a ‘humanitarian’ is an absolute disgrace.”

This Lutheran has always had a soft spot for Francis Xavier, who brought the gospel to China and Japan, and was even foolish enough to think that the present Pope chose his name because of the zeal for the gospel found in Xavier. Jesuits have become anathema, and I don’t say that because of Catholic-lutheran issues but because of Jesuit heresy.

Bergolio took his papal name after St. Francis of Assisi, not St Francis Xavier.

They really need to ask him about his high school “knock down game” activities against African Americans in the streets of East St Louis- when it was still a pretty nice town, before the Democrats turned it into a ghetto of hopelessness.

“Service to others” but not to the unborn. An elected official prostituting official political party position endorses death and gets accolades. So what exactly was wrong with Adolph Hitler and the Nazi party, or Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot and every other bloodthirsty monster on Earth? Why has America fought, for most of its still very young existence ,fighting for life, liberty, justice, freedom, “American way” etc. etc.? I guess we were just war mongers. Its not like abortion/ infanticide has not killed more than any war on record and certainly more than all Americans KIA defending a country that now makes abortion LEGAL. More and more, I ask myself how did we get here and how fast it came. Those who wrote about a future like this have predicted all of this stunningly coming true. This does not bode well for the future. I see God and our country America in desperate times. Most fail to see it. Our children that are spared from abortion are being indoctrinated by the same people who think it’s ok to abort them.

Well, Georgetown began its descent into Hell when it allowed William Jefferson Clinton in.

Then, it gave the pro-abortion Robert Drinan, SJ, a berth after JPII ordered the clergy out of politics.

And so on, crucifixes out of the classrooms, Sandra Fluke, etc.

Oh, and I can't see its "reparations" thing ending up well for the real students at the school, either.

IF Durbin is being honored for what he does, including spouting off and calling American soldiers “Nazis”, then Georgetown Un. just proved my point in my post about the Marquette professor who was being harassed there.

Glad I went to American University where most of the communists were in the student body before they hired Brady Tyson and the weirdest bunch of leftist chaplains in the history of an American university. I mean really weird, Timothy Leary weird, Michael Moore weird (Charlie Rother, Rev. Joe Eldrige, Mr. Liberation Theology himself, and others).

We began to rename the school “UnAmerican University” and it is still infected with the red plague to some degree.

Anyone who thinks that Georgetown is a religious school of any sort any longer is sadly mistaken.

Why couldn’t the writer of the article even mention the name of the bishop who is barring him from Communion? I assume it is the Bishop Paprocki of Springfield, Illinois, but the article doesn’t say. It also doesn’t mention if Durbin was singled out, or if his barring from Communion is to be inferred from a blanket statement made by His Eminence.
