PRAYER
Almighty God through the cross your Son embraced the power of death and broke its hold over your people. You know our faults and yet you promised to forgive. Guide us to open ourselves in this time of repentance. Draw us and all people to yourself confessing that Jesus is Lord. As now we pass from the shadow of death to the light of the resurrection, help each of us put aside the deeds of death.
In Jesus Christ you reveal the way of life through the life of obedience. Keep us in your presence and give us your wisdom. Help us as we take up your invitation to the discipline of praying without ceasing. We pray for all who suffer, who are in need, and those yet unaware of their need for you or once again seek reconciliation with you.
Almighty God nothing can prevail against you. Hear our prayer for the United States of America:
You are a God of order not chaos. In this country, You give freedom to each of us only to be restrained in honor of you and our love for one another. However within the ‘deep state,’ there are those that pervert their authority for secret political agendas and personal fame and fortune. Continue to reveal all their plots, lies and traps set to abort the hope and healing for our nation. Give President Trump, Vice President Pence and those of their administration discernment to remove each corrupt individual and replace with those committed to restore law and order.
We ask for you to continue to give wisdom and courage to enable them to persevere in their commitments to you and the American people. We especially pray for physical, mental and spiritual protection for your servants President Trump and Vice President Pence and their families.
Continue to remain with us giving us hope, that we may not stray from you but remain your people and be used to witness of your great love and grace. We rejoice always in the gift of your Spirit through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Such confidence we have through Christ before God. Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, transitory though it was, will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious? If the ministry that brought condemnation was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness! For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory. And if what was transitory came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!
