2005. 13 years ago. In a more recent interview he said he was a Christian.

Thank you for the link to your Dennis Quaid quote. I went there and noticed that there is no date on the article, but in the URL to the article, the date is 11/2005—almost 13 years ago. He was four years past his bad breakup from Meg Ryan, which involved a soul-searing custody dispute, and about a year into his subsequent marriage to a Baptist woman. So he has had some years of time to heal, hopefully go to church with his wife, and/or to refine his thinking around the gospel.

In 2005, this nation was still terribly uninformed about Islam and many people engaged in wishful thinking that it is a peaceful religion, but by now the truth has seeped out. Let's hope he has arrived at a better understanding.

I give him credit for appearing in a Christian movie and for testifying in his song, given that Christian views are career-killers in Hollywood. If his is the "big name" that draws more people into this movie or encourages other "name" actors to come out of the believer closet in Hollywood, it's all to the good. None of us is born a fully-formed Christian.
