And, frankly, we really try to over-complicate it. His message is so simple, as is his promise. Accept his free gift and you live. Refuse it and you die. And this not based on what you do. Rather, what you do is based on your belief. And regarding Christianity, everything is about WHY you do what you do.

As I was mentioning to a friend in Church yesterday: If you reflect on the last week and you feel you were not obeying enough and you had better clean up your act if you want to make it to heaven, you’re doing it wrong.

Many aspiring Christians leave out one important step, the one thing He asks of us: repent of your sins. Repent. You are not "entitled" to salvation without repentance and humility before the law of God.

Romans 2:4
Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?

Matthew 3:2
Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Matthew 3:8
Bear fruit in keeping with repentance.

Mark 1:4
John appeared, baptizing in the wilderness and proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.

Luke 13:3
No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.

Luke 24:47
and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

2 Corinthians 12:21
[Paul:] I fear that when I come again my God may humble me before you, and I may have to mourn over many of those who sinned earlier and have not repented of the impurity, sexual immorality, and sensuality that they have practiced.

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

Revelation 3:19
Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.
