For the first time in at least 100 years, the US Cabinet has a bible study group. What do they learn? What does Donald Trump make of it? And why aren't women allowed to teach?
Every Wednesday, some of the world's most powerful people meet in a conference room in Washington DC to learn about God.
The location can't be revealed - the Secret Service won't allow it - but the members can.
Vice-President Mike Pence. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos. Energy Secretary Rick Perry. Attorney General Jeff Sessions. The list goes on.
In total, 10 cabinet members are "sponsors" of the group. Not everyone attends every meeting - they are busy people - but they go if they can.
Meetings last between 60 and 90 minutes, and members are free to contact the teacher after-hours. So who is the man leading the United States' most-influential bible study?
Step forward Ralph Drollinger, a seven-foot tall basketball pro turned pastor. Or, as the 63-year-old describes himself: "Just a jock with some bad knees
Drollinger grew up in La Mesa, a suburb of San Diego, California. As a child, he rarely went to church - "Probably half a dozen times," he says - and didn't get far with the Bible.
"I always promised myself I'd read it," he says. "But every time I tried, it didn't make a whole lot of sense to me."
In his last year of high school, after a basketball game, some cheerleaders invited him to bible study. He went, and his world changed.

“And why aren’t women allowed to teach?”
Ummmmmm.....
Since The Word says so???
Very good news. I have heard Sec of Ag Sonny Perdue mention he is part of this when he can get there. I am delighted to hear this is still going. Blessed is.........
BBC doing all they can to lampoon this gathering in their own way.
There he is! Glad someone was able to locate him.
Good, and no prayer rugs there like with the previous regime.
PING!!
‘Since The Word says so???’
do you eat shellfish or wear clothing made with differing fabrics...?
Talk about deep cover.
Old Testament laws meant for Israel that were pushed aside in the New.
The New does forbid women teaching.
When youre ready I would be happy to spend a few minutes helping you to understand some of the differences between the Old and New Testaments. The prohibition against women being in authority in the Church or teaching men is New Testament The kosher laws were Old Testament.
” that were pushed aside in the New.”
nothing was pushed aside.
Jesus said He came to fulfill the old. they are still valid just fulfilled.
I remember Athletes in Action. Turned down a lot of pro money to preach the gospel but I really don’t think black athletes had that option.
I often wonder about how Messiah will rule the world. He was a servant then but will be a warrior King when He rules. Ruling with a rod of iron means what? Know any good online studies or print books about it? John the Baptist had a totally different concept of the Messiah (he had to ask Jesus if He really was the Messiah) so I’ve done a little bit of research on the Old Testament view of Messiah from the orthodox Jewish POV.
The Bible indicates that a woman is never to be placed in a superior position to a man. That’s why most Baptist churches (don’t know about other denominations) do not call on women for public prayer. A woman can lead, however, if she is presiding over a group of other women. There has been some relaxation of this procedure.
Thanks, GC!!!
That's OT Law.
The prohibition against women teaching men or being in authority over men is NT and stated by Paul under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
Please understand that I am in no way being facetious or unkind when I say it doesnt matter HOW the Messiah will rule if youre not around to enjoy it. Unless a man is born again he cannot see The Kingdom of God.
Im sure there are many good books and online studies on the Millenial reign of the Lord Jesus. None come to mind at the moment, however. The truth is most details, other than the fact that He WILL reign, most stuff out there is speculation. So I dont indulge. Here at your service. DS
