Episcopal Church Prepares to Tighten Screws on Traditional Marriage Proponents
Juicy Ecumenism ^ | 4/9/18 | Jeffrey H. Walton

Further evidence this week of the continued longevity of Fr. Richard John Neuhaus’ law: “Where orthodoxy is optional, orthodoxy will sooner or later be proscribed.”

Officials in a handful of domestic Episcopal Church dioceses which have opted out of the denomination’s same-sex marriage liturgies are warily eying the denomination’s upcoming General Convention and the changes it may bring.

Bishops and deputies will gather this July in Austin, Texas for the triennial governing convention. A multi-year process of revising the church’s Book of Common Prayer, last revised in 1979, is widely expected to begin at this gathering.

Interestingly, the addition of same-sex marriages conducted within the Episcopal Church has not significantly lessened a decline in the overall number of church weddings, which have dropped by 44 percent in the past decade (14,805 marriages in 2006, compared with only 8,343 in 2016, the most recent reporting year).

So, the Episcopal Church will join the ELCA in becoming a political cult, as opposed to a Christian Religion, eh?

How long before they start praying to pagan gods and goddesses? Only a matter of time.

A dying church. It happens when they turn their back on God and decide to teach their own believes and not His law.

We shall see if the United Methodists will drink this poison next year.

If one honestly believes that same sex marriage can be reconciled with the Christian faith (it sure as heck can't conform to any canonical scripture), fine. But let's not kid ourselves that embracing same sex marriage is going to increase attendance.

It's an interesting paradox that attempts to increase "relevance" to contemporary society lead to less relevance as attendance continues to suffer. It's like the wisdom of man is foolishness to God. (Salute to Paul)

And they are doing so notably for the benefit of homosexuals.

Has no one involved in causing this arrogation of sound doctrine ever read Romans 1:18-32?

Seems like culture is motivating the church, should be church influencing culture.

As I recall, there was one Episcopal priestess that was a Muslim, but at the time (a decade or so ago) they ended up defrocking her. There was the Anglican bishop in England that was a druid a few years ago, and an Anglican priest who is a Hindu.

Whatever it takes to grow the attendance.

Most of the orthodox parishes have left the ECUSA. One umbrella home they've found is the ACNA, the Anglican Church in North America, incorporating the various orthodox church organizations. My old church became part of the Reformed Episcopal Church, a member group of the ACNA.

The ECUSA is particularly vindictive, nay satanic, in their treatment of dissenting parishes. On more than one occasion they refused to sell the old church property to the former congregation, but instead have sold the property to muslims!!! Absolutely true.

On good resource for keeping up with this news is Virtue Online.

Maybe a tornado needs to hit the building where ECUSA meets, like He did at the ELCA meeting in Minneapolis.

The Episcopal Church is the church for the upwardly mobile. The homosexuals have acquired a lot of political power in this current world, so it's only natural they'd want to colonize that church as well. Ask any EC member who professes to be a Christian how they reconcile their church's acceptance of homosexual behavior (this is NOT "love the sinner, hate the sin" but "love the sin" as well, and promote and protect the sinful behavior without correction) with what the Bible teaches.

It’s sad because the Episcopal Church was my spiritual home for 45 years. They have beautiful services and it is mostly the leadership that trends so liberal.

However, there were only two conservatives in my home church. One died and I moved to Hawaii.

Is anyone surprised by this. Personally, I'm glad my parents aren't alive to witness this decline and descent.

TEC = “trashing everything Christian”. Have been doing so for many, many years. They’ve long had a terminal case of “itching ears”, i.e., 2 Timothy 4:1-5

As a now unaffiliated cradle Episcopalian, I have concern that the ACNA may rend itself over the issue of the ordination of women, where there already is bifurcation. Some dioceses permit it, others not. And currently, nowhere are female bishops allowed.

What is your view as to where this is heading?

Warning Against False Teachers
1Ti 1:3  As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
1Ti 1:4  Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.
1Ti 1:5  Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:
1Ti 1:6  From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;
1Ti 1:7  Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.
1Ti 1:8  But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
1Ti 1:9  Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
1Ti 1:10  For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
1Ti 1:11  According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

There is an Episcopal church in California which used to be conservative, in fact the only one in the Diocese of California, which now has a Buddha in the chapel, in the interest of being inclusive of course.
Apparently there was a battle with the priest who left and with him many parishioners also left so the church became a mission. That gave the diocese an opportunity to come in and take over. Very very sad because the Holy Spirit used to live there.
