There is nothing new under the sun, so the Bible says. Why do we need it then?
The article states: “The doctors of the law, in fact, were incapable of discerning the signs of the times.” I’m quite disturbed by this statement because I am not sure what is meant by this. The four early Doctors to the Church were great theologians who were forced to confront a myriad of heresies and did so while preaching the unity of Christians. If the Pope means, for example, Saint Augustine of Hippo was unable to discern the signs of the times, he is greatly mistaken. He should explain what he means with examples and in detail because the statement is as close to heretical as any I can think of.
Oh, so now he thinks himself superior to the Doctors of the Church? Are you kidding?
Im not. But Francis. maybe yes.
“Doctors of the law” == scribes and Pharisees.
A leftist concept that is analogous to the "living, breathing U.S. Constitution" claptrap.
Mary said Christ Himself would send someone so bad that it would shake the faithful out of their rut and make them admit there was a major problem within the clergy from top to bottom.
Bergie fits the bill and the timing is exactly what we were told it would be.
Good analogy and verse cite.
Errr, so whore of Babylon much? Lately it sounds like the pope is ready to take in all sorts of things non-Biblical.
“Im quite disturbed by this statement because I am not sure what is meant by this.”
I understand your confusion. I don’t get this guy either. He always seem to pick the wrong side.
