Cardinal Marx, Karl Marx Necessary For Catholic Social Teaching

Munich Cardinal Reinhard Marx was “impressed” by Karl Marx’ Communist Manifesto, at least for its “great language”.

Talking to Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (April 29), Cardinal Reinhard Marx claimed that the analyses of Marx contributed “decisively” to the emergence of the Catholic social teaching.

However, Karl Marx was a prominent representative of communism. The Catholic social teaching was written in contrast to Communism.

Karl Marx wanted to end religion, family and property. He was the first Western [non-]thinker who used the term “holocaust” to call for a genocide of people. Marx wanted to extinguish among other Slawik people the Polish.

I love it that Marx quote Marx. It is imperative for all to see this plainly - and to run screaming. Lord, bind the work of this man’s hands.

And I am impressed by Karl Marx’s writings for the great harm they have done to the world and to mankind.

Truly a great and terrible human instrument of Hell.

This is NOT “bashing”.

Marxism is an equal opportunity infection.

Witness the recent SJW invasion of the organization known as “The (Social) Gospel Coalition”.

While I think the cardinal’s own religious philosophy is likely errant, I am not surprised by his statement, as I have seen the hand of Marxist dialectics in expositions of modern Catholic “social justice” positions.

The self-professed “religious” quite often are swayed by presentations of “good intentions” and past that, often enough, cannot see the hand of tyranny in achieving those “intentions”; and will deny the tyranny of the spirit that that the tyranny of Liberty creates.

Does the Cardinal know that Karl Marx’s children committed suicide? Why reference that monster at all?

Wow....

The followers of Christ had to wait 1900 years for Karl Marx to tell us how the Savior had concern for the poor.

“Liberalism is a spiritual disorder”,

to paraphrase Savage.

Not a good model for a Cardinal to imitate.

By the way, relating what someone said, however high their position in the Catholic Church, or however negative an un-christian their actions are, is not Catholic bashing.

However, if you can prove that this report is not factual, then you might have a case.

ANY Roman Catholic or Greek Orthodox priest who endorses Karl Marx is a HERETIC.

At first, I thought he was saying that Catholics should be taught about Marx, a sentiment with which I wholeheartedly agree. I think every conservative or person who values human freedom (which I've always believed includes most Catholics) should struggle through Das Kapital and The Communist Manifesto at least once in their lives. You just can't be well-equipped to resist the cancer of Marxism without understanding it and just how pervasive it has become.

For example, a conservative who calls himself a "capitalist" or advocates "capitalism" is unwittingly and unnecessarily adopting Marx's assumptions. We should all know better than that.

But then I read further and realize that is not what Cardinal Marx is saying at all.

When you use the word of man instead of the Word of God to set Church teaching, THIS is what happens.
