“Or unless you’re right by “rightly dividing” Gen. 38 right out of the Bible.

Sorry, but this passage has a context and a meaning different that your assertion. It remains Scripture and useful for teaching and reproof.

You can’t make it into what it isn’t.

You have not proven your truth claim. Not close.

The "Gay Christians" say the O.T. and N.T. sodomy and homosexuality-related passages have a context and a meaning different from the historic teachings of Christianity, and different also from "today's reality." These Scriptures don't refer to gay marriage, for instance, and "You can’t make it into what it isn’t."

I don't agree with that, of course, but I bring it up by way of analogy.

I do think we're at an impasse. Your argument would more plausible if you didn't throw out everything --- Scripture AND Tradition, Natural Law AND Biblical example --- in favor of the New Sexual Paradigm which didn't even exist before the 20th century.

There's the "by their fruits" test, too, which contraception fails. Or would you want to assert that the contraceptive revolution raised respect for women, strengthened our appreciation for the sanctity of marriage, made spousal fidelity more attractive and more stable, and helps our young people find depth and purpose in God's design?
