Do NOT trust Tony Campolo. He is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
I will never forget - saw him speak on a Friday night at a Creation ‘80 festival in Lancaster, PA to thousands. He was radical in what he preached. And not ‘radical’ in a good way like Randy Stonehill shaking up the church to get out of the pews - but anti-Biblical. Everyone’s jaws dropped when he said ‘You’re a Bitch’ when telling a story about some girl having trouble with her faith.
He walked with Clinton into Ron Brown’s funeral yucking it up - (until Clinton saw the cameras).
He is not to be trusted. And I don’t sew discord among the brethren - so I don’t say these words lightly.
“Go out and get in their faces!”
- Barack Hussein Obama
- Socialists like to conflate society and government but they are very distinct - society is a blessing and government merely a necessary evil.
- Every failing of society can be seen as an occasion to promote more government. Cynicism towards society is entirely consistent with faith in, even naiveté towards, government.
- Cynicism is the opposite of faith
- Socialism is cynicism directed at Christian society, and naiveté towards government.
- Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! —Isaiah 5:20 King James Version (KJV)
- Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. - Psalm 146:3 (KJV)
“Red-letter Christians” are not “anti-Trump evangelicals,” because they’re not evangelicals. They’re theological liberals who judge the biblical canon to be inadequate, so they have declared their own to affirm their particular prejudices.
“Red letter Christians” are those who emphasize only the words that Jesus spoke (like in the “Red letter” editions of the Bible). This is a handy way for them to avoid the clear teachings of Paul about the sin of homosexuality and other matters.
Indeed. Want to watch a “Red-letter Christian” dance? Ask him about the red letters in Acts 9:15: “[Paul] is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel.”
My husband’s Christian relatives (and these are people who truly are devout, Bible believing Christians, who live their faith) were aghast that we voted for Trump. I pointed out to them that as Jesus was not on the ballot, Trump was the obvious choice. (For other reasons, as well). They refused to vote for Hillary, either, and just left the president part of their ballot blank.
I think in cases like theirs, they just didn’t think things through, and just saw the issue in black and white, on a very superficial level. Not uncommon, unfortunately. I know other devout Christians, who vote democrat. I think when these folks get to Heaven, they will realize where they missed it, just like everyone else who gets there, will, since we all sin. We won’t be punished for them, because our sins are under the blood of Jesus, but I think we will have cause to pause, and humble ourselves before God, as we realize what Jesus has done for us, despite our failings.
