Full details of the Popes participation in the World Meeting of the Families were confirmed today.
THE LEADER OF the Catholic Church in Ireland has said that LGBT couples are of course welcome to volunteer at the upcoming World Meeting of the Families event in Dublin.
The Church is seeking thousands of volunteers to help with the organisation and the running of the event, which takes place from 21 to 26 August, and recently extending the deadline for volunteer applications. Pope Francis will visit for the final two days of the meeting, which is held every three years.
The question of whether LGBT couples who are members of the Church would be welcome was raised earlier this year after it emerged pictures featuring same-sex partners were removed from a reissued booklet about Augusts event sent to parishes.
A US-based bishops welcome to same-sex couples was also edited out of a video promoting the World Meeting of the Families a move described by Association of Catholic Priests as being very damaging to the event.
Ive absolutely no idea that anyone would be asked about their sexual orientation in becoming a volunteer, Archbishop Eamon Martin said in response to questions from TheJournal.ie at a press conference this morning.

Francis has knocked the entire Church off her foundations.
Not the entire Church. Find a traditional mass and see the difference.
I hope you’re correct
Francis may not be the “ANTI-CHRIST”; however, he most assuredly is NOT the Vicar if Christ, nor even a Christian!
"Also, who are we to prohibit them from distributing their LGBQT tracts or handing out condoms during the festivities?", the Archbishop added.
NOTE to the archbishop: Usually, it's not necessary to "ask" a volunteer about his orientation - Rather, it's usually plain as day.
Regards,
The Church isn’t a building or a lot of buildings.
It’s in us.
Francis hasn’t done anything to me or other true Catholics.
We answer to someone a lot higher.
