Good luck in your search, my friend. I leave you with the words of the apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 15, a man who met Jesus while walking on a road to Damascus. “12 But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. 15 More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. 19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.”
You made my exact point.
Ah yes, but the Bible records that hundreds of people saw the resurrected Christ in person. Therefore, we are not to be pitied.
Okay, one last point. Why do you think that Jesus only appeared to a select few? Why didnt He just walk down Main Street in Jerusalem or Rome and say Here I is! Why doesnt He just appear in your living room tonight and say Here I is! Or write up in the sky with his finger I be the real deal! Because if your read the Bible, you will find that what God requires from us is faith. He even said as small as a mustard seed. Thousands of people witnessed the miracles of Jesus, yet many of them didnt believe and walked away. God requires faith from us. He says his creation is enough to prove He exists. All this crap on earth just appeared randomly through mutations. Right. Watch Blue Planet on BBC tonight. They will tell you it is chaos out of order or vice versa. I will tell you that it is Gods handiwork.
Look, nothing personal, I just don’t believe most of the bible. After studying it, growing up with it, classes on it, quoting from it. Completely indocrinated, from birth, in the church. I decided for myself, it just isn’t true.
But I do believe in god, 100%. Just not Jesus, as taught in christianity anyway. Or any organized religion at all. And as I said before, my life has never been better. My faith in god is enormous. Just not your version of god.
The god I have faith in doesn’t care about what you call it, or whether someone resurected 2000 years ago. It’s not important. What is important is seeking god out daily, and asking what its will is for you, and you alone. Then doing it, wherever it leads.
And I’m not alone, which is pretty much the point of the article that originated this thread. Many people have faith in god, but not in organized religion. I’m one.
Stay thirsty, Deplorablus Unum. It is my prayer that one day, you will find Living Water. And you will never thirst again.
