Considering that Duterte's reason for at least believing in a a supreme is because something must prevent "billions of stars and celestial bodies from colliding in a frequency that could have long threatened the human race" - which is not much of an argument - evidences that he is not a serious seeker, and is simply a fool uttering his carnal mind.
In contrast, here is a man (Amir D. Aczel, Ph.D, author of 17 books on mathematics and science) who despite being a evolutionist cannot justify atheism, and wrote in Time magazine that,

The great British mathematician Roger Penrose has calculated—based on only one of the hundreds of parameters of the physical universe—that the probability of the emergence of a life-giving cosmos was 1 divided by 10, raised to the power 10, and again raised to the power of 123. This is a number as close to zero as anyone has ever imagined. It sure isn’t telling people GOD has a mother.
Mary was the mother of Jesus and identified as such in Scripture by the Holy Spirit. She is the mother of the Incarnation of God, but not the mother of God.
God is eternal. He did not have a beginning. By saying that GOD has a mother, you are putting Mary above Him and making her the source of the Godhead.
Claiming God had a mother smacks of Mormonism where they teach that God was previously a man who attained godhood. As a man, then he would have had a mother. But that is blasphemy.
If God wanted us to identify Mary as *mother of God* then HE would have used the phrase Himself when inspiring Scripture.
He didn’t.
The term *mother of Jesus* was an identifier for identifying MARY, which one of the many Mary’s mentioned in Scripture the writers were talking about, not making a statement about Jesus divinity.

There is no proof good enough for someone who WILL not believe.
That's man's foolish notion of the definition of faith. That's why one should never base their theology on a sitcom.
This is what God says faith is, and it's not believing something that can't be proved.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
When Thomas doubted, Jesus showed him proof. Jesus did not expect Thomas to believe something that couldn't be proved.

You're absolutely correct. When our Lord Jesus was confronted by the Pharisees, He told them to 1) search the scriptures, 2) examine His works (miracles), and 3) listen to His words and actions. Even with all the mounting evidence they would not believe simply because they were not of His sheep. Christ raises from the dead and they concoct stories to explain it away.
Faith isn't a blind leap. Rather it is when one sees the Red Sea parting, they realize and acknowledge it is the work of God. There is no proof except what God has already provided-the death and resurrection on the cross for our sinful behavior. People don't need to examine the claims of Christ, they need to examine themselves in the light of the scriptures. That should be proof enough.
I suspect Duterte wouldn't have resigned even if he saw Christ raised from the dead.
